Highlighting the events of the
Newberry Cotillion Club’s winter
dinner dance held on December 4
at the Country Club of Newberry
was the presentation of two
lovely young ladies. They were
Miss Betsy L. Bruner, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Bruner, and
Miss Mary Elizabeth Johnson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Dun
can Johnson, all of Newberry.
Miss Bruner, who is a sopho
more at Anderson college, was
escorted by Robert Wallace Tay
lor of Laurens. Miss Johnson, a
sophomore at Agnes Scott col
lege, was escorted by Ben T.
Rook of Newberry and Clemson
University.
Prior to the festivities at the
County Club, the young ladies
were honored at a drop-in at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wes-
singer. The honorees were pre
sented dainty nosegays of sweet
heart roses nested in white tulle.
Christinas arrangements and dec
orations throughout added to the
beauty and charm of the Wessin-
ger home. On a living room table
were the Three Wise Men by an
open jewel box, flanked by two
tall candles i^ bronze candlesticks.
A small Christmas tree with
packages graced the hearth and
a dried arrangement of holiday
colors complimented another ta

and a mistletoe ball decorated the
hall. Guests were served punch
and cheese-pecan biscuits by Mrs.
Robert D. Schumpert from a beau
tifully appointed table in the din
ing room. The round table, cov
ered in a red felt cloth, held a
beautiful arrangement of red
velvet roses in a silver and crys
tal epergne and the lovely silver
punch bowl with matching cups.
Among the guests at the drop-
in were Miss Johnston’s grand
mothers, Mrs. P. D. Johnson, Sr.,
and Mrs. Gordon Blackwell. Other
guests included the parents of the
honorees, Mr. and Mrs. John
Frazier, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rob

metallic streamers were suspend
ed from the ceiling and graceful
white palms were placed at the
entry and about the dance floor.
] Other holiday drapings covered
