Citizens Should.
Barry Goldwater and the FARMER —
Barry Goldwater pledges development of truly voluntary
commodity programs for commercial agriculture, price
supports free of political manipulation in order to
stimulate and attain fair market prices, together with
adequate credit facilities and continued support of farm-
owned and operated cooperatives including RURAL
ELECTRIC and TELEPHONE FACILITIES, (pg. 21 of
platform). Pledges to have farmers running the depart
ment of agriculture instead of lawyers. When farm
problems arise Goldwater will go to Farm organizations
and farmers for advise and solutions.
Barry Goldwater and the
SUPREME COURT
The next president will likely be in position to appoint at
least three new members of the Supreme Court as five
members are of retirement age and three will probably
retire in the next four years (this includes Chief Justice
Warren) — Goldwater has pledged to appoint only
those who will uphold our Constitution as it was written
by the Founding Fathers —

SOCIAL SECURITY
Barry Goldwater pledges to strengthen the present
system — He pledges revisions to allow higher earnings,
without loss of benefits, by our elderly people (pg. 15 of
platform) — Will not support the changing of the pre
sent system to include medicare provisions which will
bankrupt the system as has been done recently in France.
Pledges tax credits and other methods of assistance to
help needy senior citizens meet the cost of medical and
hospital insurance, (pg. 15 platform).

STATE LEGISLATURE —
Barry Goldwater will support a Constitutional amend
ment which will allow South Carolina to keep its State
Legislature as it iis now. If the recent Supreme Court
Riding (publicly supported by LBJ and HHH) is allowed
to stand, Newberry County will lose its Senator and
possibly its representative in the House. The ruling
provides that each State must have its legislature ap
portioned by population alone.

Barry Goldwater and WAR & PEACE —
Barry Goldwater pledges a strong foreign policy similar
to that of the Eisenhower Administration — During
the eight Eisenhower years the United States was not
involved in any kind of shooting war — That record

Barry Goldwater pledges to restrict imports of textiles,
lumber, beef and other products that we produce here
in the U. S. in great abundance.
Barry Goldwater pledges further reductions in income
taxes and Federal excise taxes. Pledges tax credits
(deductions) for those burdened by the expenses of
college education (pg. 15 of Platform). These tax re
ductions will be made possible through a reduction in
foreign aid (V/2 billion dollar?) to communist countries
alone) and in wasteful government spending.

LET’S FACE THE ISSUES
What the present administration
believes and what icy do not stand for-
LBJ and RELIGION —
No mention of restoration of prayers in schools can be
found anywhere in the LBJ platform even though the
platform committee was requested by a religious organi
zation to do so — Hubert Horatio Humphrey and his
Americans for Democratic Action have been against any
form of religious activity in our National Government.
LBJ and WAR & PEACE —
A weak foreign policy under Democrat administrations
has involved the United States in two World Wars, the
Korean War and NOW THE WAR IN SOUTH VIET
NAM — In 1961, shortly after the present administra
tion with its weak foreign policy took office, the BER
LIN WALL was built, LAOS WAS “NEUTRALIZED”
(communized), the FIRST of over 200 (to date) AMERI
CAN SOLDIERS LOST HIS LIFE IN VIET NAM, the
U. S. suffered deep shame and humiliation at the BAY
OF PIGS IN CUBA, and Russia began shipping missiles
to Cuba. What kind of foreign policy is this? LBJ and
HHH want to disarm this nation and place our future in
the hands of the United Nations and at the mercy of the
Russian and Chinese hoards.
LBJ and YOUR POCKETBOOK —
LBJ allowed a 5% increase in cotton textile imports from
Hong Kong starting October 1st of this year.
Lumber imports have MORE THAN DOUBLED SINCE
I960 — On September 3rd of this year LBJ gave a con
tract for eight torpedo boats to a foreign company in
Norway, and on the same day men were fired at the
Brooklyn Navy Yard for lack of work Does this make
sense to you? If so, LBJ is your man — Donaldson AFB
was closed under the present administration — The
present administration fought long and hard to keep the
Fouke Fur Company from moving to S. C. from St.
Louis. Even cancelled Fouke’s seal skin contract because
the Company moved to S„ C. Is this your idea of free
enterprise? If so, LBJ is your man —
LBJ and the FARMER —
Under the administration’s farm program prices have
dropped to thie lowest figure since 1939, from 84% of
parity under Eisenhower to the present 74% of parity —
The present Secretary of Agriculture is a LAWYER
NOT A FARMER. How is he qualified to direct the
future of our farmers? He is also associated with the
socialistic ADA group —
LBJ and the SUPREME COURT —
The last four members were appointed by the present
administration and voted to end prayers in schools, to
give communists a free hand to subvert our Gobemment
without having to register as agents of a foreign govern
ment or movement.
LBJ and SOCIAL SECURITY —
LBJ would bankrupt the Social Security system by
burdening it with medicare. LBJ’s reckless spending
creates inflation of the Dollar and rising prices, thus
HURTING THOSE LIVING ON A FIXED SOCIAL
SECURITY INCOME —
LBJ and HUBERT HORATIO
HUMPHREY
Hubert Horatio Humphrey is only ONE HEARTBEAT
AWAY FROM BEING YOUR BOSS. LBJ has already
had one serious heart attack. Could he stand the stress
and strain of the Presidency without another? Aren’t
you afraid to take the chance? HHH is a liberal’s liberal.
Past President of the socialistic ADA which advocates
admiting Red China to the United Nations, doing away
with loyalty oaths for Government employees, and he
was he ram-rod behind the civil rights bill and other
radical left wing legislation —
