Feeder Pig Meeting Today' Plans for producing more feeder pigs and establishing grader feed er pig sales in Newberry county will be discussed at a meeting to be held today (Thursday). The meeting will be held at 2 P. M.rin the auditorium of Newberry coun ty agriculture building. According to County Agent A1 Busby, the increased production of feeder pigs offers an ideal oppor tunity to increase income on many Newberry county farms. Some advantages of feeder pig production include: Sows and pigs don’t take much space and have faster turnover in volume of pigs handled each year. It takes only 2 months to get the pigs on the market from the time they are farrowed. It gives many farmers a chance to use extra labor, the amount de pending on how elaborate the fac ilities are. Housing and equipment can be a low investment item. Most farms could convert an existing building into a farrowing operation. A feeder pig operation fits in well as a sideline operation for dairymen, beef cattle and poultry producers and for part-time farm ers. The main feed requirement is for the breeding herd. Pigs don’t need much feed up to market wt. of 40-50 lbs. “In order to consider working toward establishing a regular market such as graded feeder pig sales in Newberry county, we need a significant number of producers to get started right away,” says Busby. “Therefore we hope every present producer as well as those who may be interested in becom ing feeder pig producers will at tend this important meeting.” Statement of Condition NEWBERRY FEDERAL SAVINGS LOAN NEWBERRY, SOUTH CAROLINA AFTER THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS DECEMBER 31,1963 ASSETS First Mortgage Loans Loans on Savings Accounts Properties Sold on Contract Real Estate Owned Investments and Securities Cash on Hand and in Banks Office Building and Equipment, Less Depreciation Deferred Charges and Other Assets $18,259,662.99 194,135J) 17,130.33 16,106.37 158,6053 LIABILITIES Savings Accounts Advances From Federal Home Loan Bank Loans in Process Other Liabilities Specific Reserves General Reserves $1,547,366.63 Undivided Profits 54,431.69 J 367J50JB8 1,601,798.32 * SM f *5 f f . r Avjjros a.jvz> Loak Association?
