Rites Thursday
Mrs. Ava Addison Millstead, 74,
died early Wednesday, January 2
at a Columbia hospital after sev
eral years of declining health.
Mrs. Millstead was born in Lex
ington County, but had spent most
of her life in Newberry. She was
a daughter of the late James T.
and Mary Sense Addison. She
was a member of Epting Memo
rial Methodist church.
Surviving are her husband,
James J. Millstead; a son, Jim
mie S. Millstead of Newberry;
two daughters, Mrs. Vernelie
Cromer and Mrs. Dorothy Mc
Collum, both of Newberry; two
sisters, Mrs. Duane D. Darby and
Mrs. E. V. Deadmon, both of
Newberry; and four grandchild
ren.
Funeral services were conduct
ed Thursday by Dr. P. L. Grier
and Rev. M. B. Fryga. Burial was
in Rosemont cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Darby,
Richard Earl Addison, Dresser
Kinney, John Hughes, Talmadge
Millstead and Don Layton.

five ounce son, Perry Warren, on

George Addy
Died Wednesday
George A. Addy of 2225 Harper
street died last Wednesday night,
January 2, at the Newberry Mem
orial hospital after an illness of a
few days. He was 82 years old.
Son of the late Henry Franklin
and Alivia Epting Addy, he was
a native of the Springhill section
of Richland county but had lived
in Newberry 60 years. He was a
member of Central Methodist
church.
Mr. Addy was twice married.
His first wife was the late Nora
Louise Lyles Addy. His second,
Dezaree Young Addison Addy.
His last wife survives him.
In addition to his wife, surviv
ing are one son, Frank A. Addy,
of Greenwood; three daughters,
Mrs. Jack McCullough of New
berry, Mrs. Lewis Stutts of Spar
tanburg and Mrs. Robert Molden
of Greenwood; one step-son, Rich
ard Earl Addison of Newberry;
two sisters, Mrs. Laura Spence
and Mrs Carrie Sturkie, both of
Columbia; and five grand child
ren.
Funeral services were conduct
ed at 3 p.m. Friday by Rev. Thur
mond H. Vickery and Rev. Marion
Ringer. Burial was in the Baxter
Memorial cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde N. Suber an
nounce . the birth of a daughter,
Karen Elizabeth, Dec. 20 at the
Newberry County Memorial Hos
pital. Mrs. Suber is the former
Evelyn Louise Wedeman.

Mrs. Plampin
Mrs. Kathleen Lee Plampin, 53,
widow of Pete C. Plampin, died
suddenly Sunday afternoon, Dec
ember 23.
Born in Newberry county, she
was the daughter of the late Jim
and Mattie Platt Gilliam. She was
a member of the Centra Method
ist church.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip
E. Plampin of the U. S. Navy, in
Charleston, and Jame 2. Plampin
of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter Mrs.
B. G. Harman of Atlanta; bro
ther, Lonnie Gilliam of Newberry;
a sister, Mrs. Ruby Marnette Co
han of Dayton, Ohio and six grand
children.
Funeral services were conducted
the following Wednesday at the
Whitaker Funeral home by Rev.
T. H. Vickery. Interment was in
Springdale cemetery.
