Kendall Company
Earning High
The Kendall Company has post
ed a 26% increase in earnings for
the first twelve weeks of 1960,
compared with the similar period
of 1959, President Richn.d R.
Higgins told stockholders in an
interim repprt issued today. The
.Kendall Company manufactures
surgical dressings, textiles, non-
wxrven fabrics and polyethylene ad
hesive tapes.
Net earnings for the first 12
weeks of 1960 were $1,082,000
or $1.03 per common share, com
pared with $857,000 or 81 cents
per share earned for the same per
iod of 1959. Kendall’s sales of
$25,626,000 were down slightly
from $25,896,000 for the compar
able period of 1959.
Mr. Higgins said that earnings
this year were enhanced as a re
sult of the consolidation of elastic
goods manufacturing at Seneca,
S. C., whereas a year ago the
company sustained substantial
costs in connection with the Sene
ca move.
Stockholders were told that de
mand for various consumer health
products has been strong and that
new market opportunities have
been developed for some specialty
products in non-woven fabrics and
protective pipe wrap tapes. In the
general textile field, Kendall con
tinues to operate against a good
