Mountville, cousins of the bride.
Miss Sylvia Foxworth of Beau
fort was the brides only attendant.
The bride was lovely in a navy
jacket dress of silk shantung with
matching accessories. She carried
a corsage of white carnations
which rested on a satin covered
Bible showered with satin rib
bons.
A reception followed the cere
mony. Arrangements of white
gladioli and camellias decorated
the rooms. The bride’s table was
centered with a tiered wedding
cake flanked by lighted tapers in
silver candelabra.
Assisting with the refreshments
were Mrs. Earl Taylor,Mrs. J. A.
Lester, Mrs. Grady Smart and
Mrs. Terrel Clark. Miss Carolyn
Hawkins of Newberry and Miss
Barbara Teague of Mountville,
cousins of the bride, passed mints.
Mrs. Cartrette graduated from
Newberry High School and at
tended Limestone and Newberry
College.
Mr. Cartrette graduated from
McColl High School and attend
ed the University of South Caro
lina.

bride of John Wayne Cartrette,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Cart
rette of McColl in a ceremony tak
ing place at her home at high
noon on February 28th. A pro
gram of wedding music was pre
sented by John Keister Willing
ham, brother of the bride.
The Rev. P. L. Grier, pastor of
the bride officiated, using the im
pressive double ring ceremony in
the presence of the immediate
families.
The vows were spoken before an
altar of banked magnolia leaves
and white gladioli arrangements
flanked by white tapers. Lighting
the candles were M. C. Foxworth
of Mullins and Bill Teague of

native of Donalds who had lived
in Seneca since 1935, died Satur
day at a Seneca hospital after an
illness of one day.
Koon Completes
Engineer Course
Pvt. E-2 James L. Koon Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Koon
Sr., of Prosperity, has completed
his basic training at Fort Jack-
son in the engineers, and was
transferred on Febmary 13th to
Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri,
where he will receive four months
of special training in engineering.
Private Koon is a member of
the Headquarters Battery of the
local National Guard.

home in the Bush River Commun
ity over the weekend after under
going treatment in the Columbia
hospital for a couple of weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Brice Arthur

Miss Mary Sue Lemmons is now
residing at 2002 Henry Ave. in
the J. L. Lipscomb home which
she recently purchased.
Mrs. Nan Grainger is now mak
ing her home at 903 1-2 Boundary
St. in one of the Clary apartments.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sessoms are
new residing at 514 Floyd St.

Mrs. Katie W. Shealy is now

new home which she recently

Hannons Attend
State Seal Meet
Mrs. Price K. Harmon, New
berry County Publicity Chairman
for the annual Easter Seal cam
paign, and Mr. Harmon attended
the State Easter Seal campaign
meeting in Columbia last Friday.
They also attended the luncheon
following the morning session.
Feature speaker for the occa
sion was Joseph J. Foss, presi-,
dfht of the National Society for
Crippled Children and Adults, and
former Governor of S. Dakota.

Former Congressman
Dominick Eulogized
In House Chambers-
Former Representative Fred H.
Dominick of Newberry was eulo
gized in the United States House
of Representatives Monday.
The House was formally advis
ed of his death by Rep. William
Jennings Bryan Dorn. He died
last Friday.
Mr/ Dominick, who served in
the HoUse 16 years, was one of
the few members of Congress who
voted against the United States
going into World War I.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cartrette of
Summerville, spent the weekend
in the home of Mrs. Cartrette’s
parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. Keister
Willingham, on Harper street.
Mrs. T. S. Humphries is now at
the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Ralph C v per in Columbia, after
being a patient in the Baptist
Hospital there for the past three
weeks.
Mrs. Louise Smith, Who has
been making her home with her
brother, Dr. E- H. Moore, had the
misfortune to fall at the Moore
home last Wednesday, breaking
her hip. She is a patient in the
Columbia hospital
T. E. Longshore who underwent
an appendectomy in the Newberry
County Memorial Hospital last
week, is doing nicely and expects
to return to his home on Lindsay
street today.
