Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cook and Tommy left Sunday for Duke Hos pital, Durham, N. C., where Tom my was to undergo surgery on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz of Atlanta, Ga. are visiting her mother, Mrs. R. T. Pugh. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Brooks and sons, Allen and Tommy, arrived Tuesday to spends through the Fourth with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Counts. Max Cook is spending several days at home ofter being a patient in the Veterans’ Hospital, Colum bia. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Harmon and children, Pat, Peggy and Mike, of Dallas, Texas, are visit ing his parents, Dr. and Mrs. G. W. Harmon. Mrs. Pat E. Wise visited on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Scott of Ware Shoals. Messrs. D. H. Hamm Sr., D. H. Hamm Jr., and J. Walter Hamm spent the week of June 28 at the Furniture Mart in High Point, N. C. Mrs. R. T. Pugh, Mrs. Boyd Bedenbaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz, Mrs. Robert Pugh, and Miss Linda Pugh were in Laur ens Saturday to attend the wed ding of James Robert Beden baugh and Miss Jo Ann Gibbs, both of Laurens. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Barnes at tended the Sunday services of the annual conference of South Caro lina Methodist, meeting in Colum bia and spent the day with their sons Rudolph and his family. Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Wessinger are receiving congratulations on the birth of a lovely daughter, Tina Leigh. .They have another daughter, Tommie. His mother, Mrs. V. E. Wessinger is with them for a visit. Mrs. A. B. Hunt, Mrs. Joe Spotts, and children, Frances Ann and Larry, spent Sunday at Boohe, N. C. to allow the children to ride and enjoy “Twetsie.” M. W. Berry Dies At SUverstreet Matt Wilson Berry, 83, of Sil- verstreet, died Wednesday night at the Newberry County Hos pital after lingering illness. Mr. Berry, a retired merchant, was born in Saluda County, son of the late Wilson and Belle Jen nings Berry. His wife is the for mer Kate Emma Swindler. Survivors include his wife; one brother, Tom Berry of Saluda; and one sister, Mrs. Dan Bledsoe of Saluda. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday from Bethany Methodist Church in Saluda Co unty by the Rev. W. C. Reid and the Rev. Kenneth B. Wilson. Bu rial was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers, H. T. Lake, M. H. Sheppard, Billy Sheppard, Elgia Sheppard, Olin Berry and Johnnny DeHart. G. P. Wright Dies At Holly Hill; Relatives Here George Purnell Wright, a pro minent citizen of Holy Hill and a nephew of Mrs. R. D. Wright of Newberry, died Thursday in the Orangeburg Regional Hospital after a few hours ill ness. A number of cousins live in Newberry. He was born at Houston, Tex as, the son of the late George Burnell and Stevia Katherine Wright. He moved to Holly Hill from Union in 1945 and since then he had made his home in Hol ly Hill, where he was engaged in poultry farming. Mr. Wright was active in church and civic affairs. He was graduated from Clemson College in 1916. He was a member of the Holly Hill Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons for a number of years. He was also president of the Guyton Bible Clags at the Sun day School. A Shriner, he was a member of the Coastal Shrine Club. He was a charter member and stockholder in the Holly Hill Country Club. Funeral services were held Friday from the Holly Hill, Bap tist Church conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Jasper Hinson. Interment was in the Holly Hill Cemeter; Windows Make Your Home!
