Kinard, 62, Died Thursday Herman Joseph Kinard, 62, of Route Three, Prosperity, died Thursday night at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Kinard was bom in the Bpchman Chapel section of New berry County, son of the late John D. H. and Mrs. Florence Quattle- baum Kinard. He was a member of the Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. He farmed and had been a carpenter for more than 30 years. He was formerly employed by Otis Livingston, contractor, and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Isabell Metts Kinard; four sons, Herman Carl, Wayne and Ronnie Kinard, all of Prosper ity, and Larry Kinard of Ridge Spring, and three daughters, Mrs. Gerald Burton and Miss Dorothy Nell Kinard of Newber ry, and Mrs. R. S. Householder of Ridge Spring. Funeral services were held Sat urday afternoon from Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by Rev. J. L. Drafts and Rev. B. B. Blake- ney. Active pallbearers were Get- son Werts, Jimmie Metts, Donald Kinard, David Kinard, Glenn Metts and Leroy Boozer. Honorary escort included Thom- Mrs. Burch Dies In Burlington Mrs. Annie Mae Williams Burch, 66, bom in Newberry, died Thursday morning at Burlington, N. C. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Williams “both of Newberry, and the wife of Coleman Burch. Survivors include four sons, John and George, both of Bur lington, Paul of Aiken, and Rev. Bernice of Draper, N. C.; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Fuqua and Mrs. Thomas Story, both of Bur lington, Mrsj. Raymond Under wood, Roanoke, Va., and Mrs. Speedy Foster, Concord, N. C. and three sisters, Mrs. T. L. Mil- stead, Mrs. Frank Yochem and Mrs. Will Lee, all of Newberry. While at Clemson he won recognition as a livestock judge and was a member of the live stock judging team that competed at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. A native of Chester County, Robert grew up on a beef cattle, small grain and cotton farm. With his good background of farm ex perience and his training at Clem son, we feel that Robert will con- ribute much toward helping the people of Newberry County. Since his graduation from Clemson Robert has been in serv ice and was discharged from the Army in February of this year. FT. HUACHUCA, Ariz. (AHT NC)—Army 2d Lt. William M. Floyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gov ernor M. Floyd, 627 Hill St., New berry, recently was assigned to the 63d Signal Company at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. Lieutenant Floyd, company executive officer, entered the Army in November 1957 and was last stationed at Fort Monmouth, N. J. The lieutenant is a 1953 grad uate of Drayton Street High School and a 1957 graduate of South Carolina State College in Orangeburg. Greenwood Feeder-Stocker Sale A final word on the Feeder- Stocker Sale to be held at Green wood next Friday, April 18. It looks like this will be a good sale judging from the results of the sale at Spartanburg last week. At the Spartanburg Sale last Friday, 112 medium grade steers, averag ing 481 pounrs, sold for an over age of 27.17 cents; 88 Good grade steers weighing an average of 567 lbs. sold for 26.85 cents; 139 Heifers averaged 23.^4 cents. Prospects are for an equally good sale at Greenwood next Fri day. Animals consigned to the Greenwood Sale have to be deliv ered to the barn on Thursday, the day before the sale.
