Boundary P T A
Meeting Termed
“Best Ever”
“This is one of the best PTA
meetings I’ve ever attended,” com
mented one father at the end of
the Boundary Street School meet
ing last Thursday night. He was
sitting at a desk in his son’s class
room with pther parents who
had just heard their children’s
third grade teacher discuss her
own aims and teaching methods.
This same program of “Advent
ures in Understanding” for par
ents was carried out in ten class
rooms, first through fifth grades.
It was felt that this meeting
setved well one of the main pur
poses for the existence of the
PTA{ to create closer cooperat
ion between the home and school,
and letter understanding be
tween parents and teachers.
A brief business meeting, with
the president, B. A. Buddln pre
siding, preceded the elafsroom
program. Devotions were led by
Dr, P. Lj. Drier. Appreciation was
expressed to Mi's. Prank Jones
ami Mi's. Rd Reek for the fine
American flag which they gave
to the school. Parents were urged
to register to vote.
Mis. Annie Mae Cromer's fourth
grade won the attemlanee banner.
The next meeting will he a

Catawba Said
To Be Favorite
By Bobbie Baker
Thursday night, November 21,
the Newberry Indians will clash
heads with the Catawba Indians.
The game will be played at 8 p.
m. on SeUler field. Thi« game
is a re-schedule of the Sept. 28
game which was called because
of had weather and flu.
Catawba defeated Guilford last
Saturday night, 39-7. This was
the first game Catawba had played
in four weeks. Three of their pre
ceding games had been canceled
because of flu epidemic, In the
game Thursday night, fullback
Stauffenburg and guard Patry,
two of Catawba’s strongest play
ers, will probably he missing from
their positions on account of in
juries. But the Indians will have
Quarterback Biacchi to lead them
in the battle against Newberry.
Catawba now stands with a three
win ami two loss season.
The Newberry Indians, defeat
ed last Saturday night by Wof
ford, 21-13 are building up ateam
for this game against Catawba.
Newberry has hopes of raising
Its season record from 4-3-1 to
a 3-3 1 score after the game
Thursday night. Their highest out*
look is to end the season with a
it-3-1 score. To get this they will
have to defeat Catawba Thursday
night and P. C, on November fch,
Newberry has a very good chance
of succeeding in its hopes with,
halfback Bob Yarnall leading them
in rushing with 216 yards, in scor
ing with 6 touchdowns, and in pass
receiving, Likewise with quarter-
back Scotty Speares leading them
in passing with 9 completed pas
ses and second most in scoring.
Catawba, being the heaviest
team, will probably t>« the favor
ites for Thursday night’s game,
although Newberry, the underdogs
last year, were able to hold Cat
awba to a 7-7 tie.
