TORNADO WARNING In time can spell the difference between
heavy loss of life amd light casualties when the twisters sweep
into populated areas. Under the experimental Weather Bureau
program for tornado tracking by radar and telephoned visual
reports, adequate warning could be broadcast so that local civil
defense, police and firemen could evacuate residents or auvit<
them to seek cover in basements. This drawing shows how sue*
a warning station at Lincoln, Neb., might alert the biha ^ ‘*_
of Dorchester, Neb., in the expected path of a twister. The tu r

TO OUR INVESTING FRIENDS:
I am pleased to advise you that the Board of Directors of the Newberry
Federal Savings and Loan Association, at their annual meeting on
May 31, declared our 44th semi-annual dividend to be paid at the rate
of 3 1 /2% per annum.
We have felt all along that we owe a very definite obligation to the
thousands of investors at the Newberry Federal Savings and Loan
Association, a responsibility to pay them as large a dividend as possible
in keeping, however, with our sound business policy. On the other hand,
we have also felt a very definite obligation to build as strong an Asso
ciation as possible. Now that our reserves, which in addition to the
insurance on your accounts, adds to the safety of your investments, has
reached over 3/4 of a million dollars, we felt that we should pass on to
our investors part of the earnings of the Association.
Now that our Association has reached approximately nine million dollars
in total assets, we want to say again to you that this has been accomp
lished mainly through your faith and confidence in us. We hope that we
shall always merit this relationship.
The dividend check you will receive July 1, 1957, or the amount which
may be added to your account, will be at the rate of 314 % per annum.
Very sincerely yours,
fokn 3. Clarkson
