' and buttered make a wonderful
idea for breakfast if you finish them
off with soft maple sugar and a grat
ing of cheese and pop into the broil
er for a few minutes until the sugar
seeps through the muffin and the
cheese bubbles.
Try some black cherry jam on
vanilla ice cream if you're looking
for a special treat in the way of
THIS WEEK'S RECIPE
Poached Eggs, Benedict
(Serves 6)
2 tablespoons butter
Y* cup minced onions
1 can condensed mushroom
soup
Yt cup milk
6 eggs
3 English muffins, split <
8 thin slices cooked ham
Cook onions in butter until
tender. Blend in soup and milk.
Heat until boiling, then lower
heat Break egga into this
sauce and cook, covered, until
eggs are done as desired. To
serve, top each muffin half
with ham slice, then with egg.
Spoon remaining sauce over
egg and serve.
a dessert. If you want it more
fancy add a bit of crystallized
ginger and whipped cream for the
dressing up.
Corned beef hash is quite a dish
if you spice It with a few herbs
and sprinkle with lemon juice and
a bit of butter before baking.
Add some chopped chives and
sieved hard-cooked egg to your next
batch of mayonnaise before you
use it as dressing for a salad.
It’s most effective.
Sliced eggplant makes good
vegetable to serve with almost
any dinner. Soak the slices in
French dressing, then dip in very
fine bread crumbs and fry on
each side until golden brown.
Having a porch party? Spread
toast wedges with chutney, then
spoon some Welsh rarebit over
this and serve piping hot.

k—Yes, the Federal government still distributes this surplus property
when available to educational and public health agencies of state
and local governments and to eligible non-profit health and educa
tional institutions. During January, February and March this year,
surplus property valued at $57,723,722, ares so distributed. It included
such items as buildings suitable tor college dormitory or faculty hous
ing; motor vehicles, hospital, school and office furniture; hand and
machine tools; motion picture-projectors; laboratory equipment;
and school and office supplies. Included among the property trans
ferred was school and hospital building sites, valued at more than
$3 million.

on-farm training under the Korean GI bill?
A—-It is not necessary that you own the farm outright But you must
have full control of it either by leasing toe land, or having a man
agement agreement or some other tenure arrangement

A—In addition to federal planting on government lands, the nation’s
forest industries planted about 240 million seedlings on their lands in
1955.
Q—Can you give me the actual difference between a Senator and a Con
gressman?
A—A United States Senator is an official of the United States Govern
ment Insofar as his duty is concerned, he is NOT the Senator from
a given state. He is supposed to legislate tor all 48 states. It is for
this reason that United States Senators are limited to two from each
state, regardless of size or populations. The official title tor Con
gressmen is "Representative in Congress.** He represents the peo
ple in his congressional district. Numbers range from one in Wyo
ming to 43 in New York, on a oooulation basis.
