Hendrix Stricken
While At Work
Joe F. Hendrix, 52, died eud-
dalnly Thursday afternoon ^vhile
operating his tractor on his farm
in the Trinity section of Newber
ry county. He was stricken |while
making a minor adjustment op the
farm machine which he was op
erating.
Mr. Hendrix was bom and
reared in the Trinity section and
was the son of Mrs. Alma Hen
drix amd the late W. D. Hendrix.
He was a member , of Trinity
Methodist church; a member of
the Board of Stewards; and a
member of the Woodmen of The
World.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Jessie Mae Derrick Hendrix; two
sons, W. P. and Henry Boyd, both
of the home; two daughters Miss
Mary and Miss Dollie Mae both
of the home, his mother, Mrs.
Raymond Merchant of Joanna;
one brother, Wilbur Hendrifac, of
Saluda, and a number of nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services were conduct
ed at 3:30 p. m. Saturday at Trin
ity Methodist church by ReY. Phil
M. Jones arid Rev. R. M. DuBbse.
Burial followed in the church
cemetery.

Hi Miss by the senior class and
a faculty committee from her
school.

The Johmsonian, Winthrop college
weekly newspaper in February.
The honor senior girls from S.
C. andi N. C. high schools will be
the guests of Winthrop for a week
end March 16-18.
Miss Amick is a member of the
Junior Homemakers association,
4-H club, and Future Teachers of
Aonerica.
Miss Amick plans to major in
commerce in college.

Jacob W. Long, 82, resident of
Little Mountain, died late Friday
afternoon after a short illness, at
the Providence Hospital in Coltun
bia.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Mamie Shealy; two sons,
Carrol Long of Little Mountain
and Julian Long of Charleston;
four daughters, Mrs. Max Boland
and Mrs. Claude Frick, both of
Little Mountain, Mrs. Troy S
Boyd of Waterloo and Mrs. Lon
Overstreet of Newberry; two sis
ters, Mrs. Tab Epting of Newber
ry and Mrs. S. C. Fulmer of Co
lumbia; 20 grandchildren arid 11
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Long was born and reared
at Little Mountain, a son of the
late Drayton and Catherine Shealy
Long. He operated a farm near
Little Mountain and was a mem
ber of Mt. Tabor Lutheran
Church.
Funeral services were conduct
ed at 2 p. m. Sunday at Mt. Tabor
Lutheran Church by the Rev. J. S.
Wessinger and the Rev. Ben
Clark. Burial followed in the
church cemetery.

The marriage of Miss Harriet
Mayer Reid otf Newberry and
Thomas Richard Anderson, Sec
ond Lieutenamt, U. S. Army, also
of Newberry, was solemnized Sat
urday evening, December 10, at
six o’clock in Aveleigh Presby
terian Church of Newberry. The
Rev. Neil E. Truesdell, pastor,
performed the double ring ritual.
White gladioli, white chryean-
themums, palms, and cathedral
tapers in candelabra formed the
decorations for the church.
Miss Mazie Dominick, organist,
and Mies Kate Rutherford, soloist,
furnished the wedding music.
The ushe* groomsmen were:

of Atlanta, Ga., Eugene Norris,
Jr., Newberry and Beaufort Fred
Weir, Jr., of Newberry, brother-
in-law of the bridegroom, • and

Benjamin Daniel Paysinger of
Newberry and Charleston was the
bridegroom's best man.
Miss Faye Murray of Newberry
and’ Columbia, was the maid of
honor and the bride’s only attend
ant. She wore a short formal dress
in two shades of light blue satin,
fitted along semi-princess lines.
The portrait neckline was accent
ed with a fold of the same mater
ial as the dress. The full skirt was
designed with panels and a soft
folded sash tied in the back ex
tended to the hemline. She car
ried an old fashioned nosegay of
pale pink roses.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was lovely in her gown
of chantilly lace fashioned along
princess lines with high empire
bodice. The scooped neckline was
appliqued in lace motifs. The lace
sleeves ended in points over the
hands. The full skirt extended in
to a chapel train. Her veil of il
lusion fell from a Juliet cap of
pearls and rhinestones and was
outlined with a ftehu of net. She

carried a bouquet of brid.e’s roses
and lilies of the valley.
The bride’s mother wore a
sheath dress of Dior blue with a
j corsage of pink camellias.
The bridegroom’s mother wore
a dress of dusty rose taffeta and
a. corsage of pink roses.
A reception was held immed r
lately after the ceremony at the
home of the bride’s parents, an

During the evening the couple
left for a wedding trip to Florida.
For traveling the bride wore an
aqua blue imported cashmere wool
suit with brpwn accessories and a
corsage of rosebuds.
Mrs. Anderson is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William Rhodes
Reid, Jr., of Newberry. Ghe is a
graduate of Newberry High school
and of Converse College in the
class of 19>55. 1
The bridegroom, son of Mr. .and
Mrs. Robert Harold Anderson of
Newberry, is also a graduate of
Newberry High school and of
Clemson College in the class of
1954.
The couple will make their
home in France while the bride
groom serves a tour of duty with
I the Army.
