Early in his ministry, Jesus„ was best by shrewd men who tried to entangle him with their sophis try and their cunning questions. A certain lawyer asked Jesus what he should do to inherit eter nal life. The Master asked the lawyer what was written in the law and “How readest thou?” The lawyer’s answer was rath er remarkable. And the Lord said unto him, “This do and thou shalt live.” But the lawyer, wishing to justify himself, asked, “Who is my neighbor?” He pretended to be un certain about the range and scope of his obligation. And many men today pretend to such confusion— they cannot be sure who their neighbor is, they do not know whether they should serve in a given case or not. In answer to the lawyer, Jesus told the story of the Good Samar itan. When Jesus had told of the three men who saw the wounded man, he asked the lawyer, "Which of these, thinkest thou, proved neighbor unto him that fell among the robbers?” And the lawyer could not but answer, "He that showed mercy on him.” In this story, we learn that our neighbor is the man in need, no matter where he may dwell, nor what his race may be. There is no limit to the duty of helpfulness. Candied fruits can be cut much more quickly if you dip the scis- RECIPE OF THE WEEK Orange Minis (Makes 24) 2 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar 6% teaspoons strained orange juice % teaspoon orange flavoring Red and yellow food coloring ■ Combine sugar, orange juice and flavoring in top part of double boiler. Stir in just enough coloring to make a deli cate orange shade (some of each color for the orange). Cook over hot, not boiling, wa ter for 3 minutes, stirring con stantly. You make the cubes with frozen lemon ade, freeze them in ice cube trays, and store in your freezer or the freezing section of your refrigerator. Then, just before serving, put a good supply of the ice cubes in your punch bowl and fill the bowl with chilled ginger ale. The punch is delicious, and with the lemonade ice cubes on hand you’re ready for company serving at a moment's notice. Make the cubes this wajy: frozen concentrate for lemonade, which is pure California lemon juice already frozen with sugar/is at your grocer s in 6- and 12-ounce cans. Whichever can size you use, mix the frozen lemonade with an equal amount of water (empty the frozen lemonade into a pitcheri then fill the can once with water and add to the frozen lemonade). Pour the mixture into your ice cube tray and in some cubes freeze maraschino cherries, in others, sprigs of mint. Make multi-colored cubes, too, by tinting part of the lemonade with E ur ® “'“it coloring and freezing the cubes in layers. When you do this, e sure that the first layer is solidly frozen before adding the layer of a second color. Keep a supply of these lemonade ice cubes on luuid and see how easy company serving becomes.
