That’s nothing, we’re always getting letters fit>ro folks wanting to put the bite on us. 30,425 Woodland Acres Examined Woodland examinations were made on 30,452 acres of timber for 202 woodland owners during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1954 in the Newberry District, according to E. L. Middleswart, District Forester. These woodland owners were given recommendations on how to best care for amd manage their particular timber lands for greatest returns in the future. Marking of forest products was recommended on 12o of the tracts. Marking for sale of forest products was completed on 78 tracts. For these 78 landowners 2,596,472 hoard feet of sawtimber and 1,- 802 cords of pulpwood were select ively marked. In addition to the selective marking service given these land- owners, recommendation^ were made for planting *ot idle land, proper steps to prevent fire from entering and destroying timber and how to improve timberlands by eradicating undesirable hard woods with poisons. Approximately 5,255 acres of idle land was planted to pine trees by 344 landowners planting 5,254,- 696 seedlings.
