up and kill them just for fun?
The caribou is easy to kill with
modern firearms. No great credit
goes to the hunter who shoots one.
The caribou is a curious, rather
stupid animal. The only thrill that
caribou hunting holds is in reach
ing its domain. White trappers,
winter commercial fishermen and
others who must kill caribou for
food simply laugh at sport shoot
ing.

IXTELL, all the fuss and furor
VV over “Three-Face” is over
anc there remain>, a few unan
swered questions to the big mys
tery ... It seems, first of alL
mighty co-incidental (or was it?)
that all three winners in the big
event Just happened to be Califor
nians If It were pure acci
dent, then It must be taken that
Californians are Just naturally
brighter people than the inhabi
tants of the other 47 states
Perhaps it’s the smog Then
there is the question as to Just how
well-known the chosen “top-flight
celebrities” involved were to the
average public ' Surely Gussie
Moran and George McManus would
be stabs in the dark to most people
The statement of the winner of.
the $20,000 Jackpot was. to our es
timation. the most quotable in re
cent years When asked how
she happened to guess George Mc
Manus (P S. In case you wonder
who this character 1$. he’s the ere
ator of “Maggie and Jiggs’*) she
answered. “The clue said his name
began with ‘M‘ and I'read Mag
gie and Jiggs’ every day so I Just
put two and two together.” Oh
come nowl Just how many thou
sands of celebrities have names
beginning with ‘M’? And why
should even the most devoted fan
of the comic strip assume the cre
ator was the person involved? Well,
the contest was a good idea the
cause was excellent but the re
sults were, to say the least, a ter
rific flop
