The Ruth Sunday School class of Grace Lutheran Church cele brated its first anniversary with a social meeting, Friday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. L. C. Pugh, one of the members. The day was also the birthday of Mrs. J. LeGrande Mayer, who teaches the class. The members presented a chrysanthemum corsage to Mrs. Mayer. Mrs. Allan Bedenbaugh, president, presided. The hostess served cocoa, sand wiches and cake. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Preslar of Clinton spent Sunday with Mrs. A. B. Hunt and Mrs. Frances Spotts. Mrs. George S. Wise of Colum bia was the Sunday guest of Mrs. J. Frank Browne. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Trammell and their son Walter, Jr., of the Indian Town School spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. J. Walter Hamm. L. A. Black, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Black, Mrs. O. B. Shearouse, Miss Eleanor Shearouse and Mrs. Jake Singley attended the funeral of Dr. Arthur Black at Bowman last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Gibson went to Columbia Sunday to see Mr. Gibson’s niece, who is in the Co lumbia Hospital. Misses Anne Bedenbaugh and Joan Hawkins, students at Win- throp College, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dhent Bedenbaugh and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hawkins. Miss Ellen Wheeler of Tamassee spent the weekend with her moth er, Mrs. Jacob G. Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Pat E. Wise and their daughter. Miss Phillis Wise of the University of S. C. spent the weekend in Atlanta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Beden baugh of Easley spent the week end with their parents, Mrs. J. A. Counts and Mr. and Mrs. Maxcy Bedenbaugh. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alexander and their son Robbin v.f Washing ton, D. C., who are visiting Mrs. Alexander’s mother, Mrs. H. E. Counts, Sr., spent Sunday with Mr. Alexander’s parents in Gas tonia, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frick and their two children, Charles and Harriette of Columbia spent Sun day with Mrs. Frick’s mother and aunt, Mrs. E. W. Werts and Miss Kate Barre. Mrs. J. W. Earhardt, Miss Eliza beth Earhardt and Mrs. Ruff of Newberry were Sunday guests of Dr. and Mrs. J. I. Bedenbaugh. With Mrs. J. A. Sease Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rich ardson and their son “Rick,” Elton C. Sease and his son Johnny of Co lumbia, Miss Betty Richardson of Winthrop College and Elton l3ease Jr., of Clemson College. Miss Mary Langford, who is teaching in North Augusta, spent the weekend at home. Mrs. J. L. Counts and Miss An nie Hunter spent the weekend in Columbia with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Foster. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Hamm, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Hamm, Jr., Mrs. G. F. Clarkson and Mrs. H. E. Whitten attended the Metho dist Conference in Greenville Sun day. Danny Newton of the Brooklyn- Cayce high school faculty spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Hendrix.
