The annual convention of the
National Guard Association -of
South Carolina will be held Sept
ember 27th at the Poinsette Hotel
in Greenville.
Business session will begin at
1:00 pjn. Over 600 officers and
warrant officers of the South
Carolina National Guard are ex
pected to attend.
The principal speaker will be
Major General H. D. Russell of
Macon, Ga-, former commander of
the 30th Infantry Division.

WORKING FOR FATHER
QUESTION: I am 20 years old,
married with one child, and work
for my father on a regular sal
ary. I am told I do not get
Social Security credit. Is this
correct?
ANSWER: That is correct. A
child under age 21 working for
a parent receives no Social Secur
ity credit foy such work.
VETERAN
Question: I was in World War
II. How do I get my Social Secur
ity credits for that time in ser
vice?
ANSWER: When a claim is filed
on your Social Security account,
credit for your period in military
service will be determined from
your discharge.
CHARITABLE INSTITUTION
QUESTION: We work for a
charitable institution and are not
now under Social Security. I
thought we should now have So
cial Security credit-
ANSWER: You may now come
under Social Security if two-thirds
of the employees want it and if
the institution voluntarily accepts
Social Security coverage and files
a certificate of acceptance with the
Bureau of IntemaL Revenue.
PARTNERSHIP GROCERY
QUESTION: My sister and I
operate a small grocery store. Our
nephew is an equal partner but
has not been active in the busi
ness. We know that my sister and
I must report our earning for
Social Security since we netted
$2,000 from the business in 1951.
But how about our nephew, must
he report too?
ANSWER: Yes. Each partner
whose net earnings from - covered
self-employment are $400 or more
in a taxable year must report
these earnings even though he is
not active in the business.
QUESTION: I’m a June bride.
My husband wants me to quit my
job and work for him in his
store. Will I still come under
Social Security?
Answer: No. A wife gets no
credit for Social Security pur
poses working for her husband.
QUESTION: Fm a janitor at a
local Church for $25 a month- Fm
not able to do other work. I need

sured. How do I go about get
ting them?
ANSWER: Social Security cover
age is secured by Churches on a
voluntary basis when the church
and at least two-thirds of its em
ployees request it. Applications
for such voluntary coverage may
be secured from the Collector of
Internal Revenue.
QUESTION: I am 79 years old
and still actively employed. I
have been told I should apply for
Social Security anyway. Is this
true?
ANSWER: Yes, it is. Anyone
over age 75 may receive his Social
Security benefits without restric
tion as to earnings.
QUESTION: I must make Social
Security reports on two employees
in my orchard who also live on
the property. Do I report what
they would pay for rent?
ANSWER: No. Only cash wages
are reported for farm workers-
