underwent an operation in the
Newberry County Memorial Hos
pital about three weeks ago, re
turned to her home on E. Main
street last Sunday, and is doing
nicely.

With Civil Service
The U. S. Civil Service Com
mission today announced that
there continues to be an urgent
need for applicants for Investi
gator positions with that agency
throughout the states of Alabama,
Florida, Georgia, South ^ Carolina
and Tennessee.
Applicants must pass a written
test and must have had certain
experience and/or education. Po
sitions pay $4025 and $5060 a
year. College graduates may
qualify for the $4205 positions
without experience if they pass
the written test. College students
who expect to graduate by June
30, 1952 may apply in this ex
amination. Such students who
pass the written test may re
ceive appointments but may not
enter on duty until they complete
their college study.
Appointees must be available
for travel on temporary detail,
or be willing to accept permanent
assignment anywhere in the
United States as the needs of
the service renuire. Services of
appointees will be used in the
Fifth Region to the maximum
extent that conditions of the work
will permit. Where these aer*
vices are required in other civil
service regions, such assignments
will be on a temporary detail
wherever possible.

Final Rites Held
At Home Monday For
Thompson Price •
Thompson Price, 57, died Fri
day at his home on Nance street
after a period of declining health.
He was the son of the late Hir
am Price of Wisconsin and Mrs.
Lydia Graham Ainsworth of New
berry. He was employed in the
drafting department of the State
Highway Department in Columbia
for the past several years.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Dorothy Trabert Price; his
mother; two sons, Charles Tra
bert, Washington, D. C., and
William Thompson, Dayton, O.,
and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conduct
ed at 11 a.m. Monday at the late
residence by the Rev. Edward B.
Clippard. Burial followed in Rose^
mont cemetery.

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs.
Broadus Lipscomb died Sunday
morning at the Newberry County MRS. PARR TO LEAVE
Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his parents,
Broadus and Mary Owens Lips
comb; one brother, Robert Bruce
Liscomb; his grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Lipscomb, and
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McGray.

Conducted Monday
Miss Annie Elizabeth Gary, 86,
died Saturday morning at the
Newberry County Memorial Hos
pital after several days of
critical illness.
She was the daughter of the
late Dorsey L. and Sarah Jane
Craig Gary ol Kinards and lived
her entire life there until she
moved to Newberry in 1938. She
was the last surviving member
of her immediate family.
Her survivors include one
nephew, W. D. Kennerley of
Greenville, and four nieces, Miss
Martha Kennerley and Miss Anna
Katherine Kennerley, both of
Greenville, and Miss Sarah Gary
and Miss Margaret Gary, both of
Newberry.
Funeral services were conduct
ed Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the
Whitaker Funeral Home by thd
Rev. T. B. Altman and the Rev.
C. O. Lamoreaux. Burial followed
in Rosemont cemetery.
