With Columbia Firm
Miss Evelyn Dickert, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Dickert,
2101 Ola street, who accepted a
position with the Colonial Stores
in Columbia, began her new'
duties on January 15th. She is
a member of the officer personnel
which is located at the rear of
the Fair Grounds.
Prior to going to Columbia,
Miss Dickert held a position with
the Newberry County Bank,
where she was employed for the
past three years.
RODELSPERGERS SPEND
COUPLE OF WEEKS IN FLA.
Mr. and Mrs. George Rodelsper-
ger plan to leave Saturday morn
ing for a two weeks vacation
trip to Florida. They will visit
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore at Nep
tune Beach, Fla. and other points
of interest while away. Mr. and
Mrs. Moore will be remembered
by many Newberrians when they
made their home in Newberry
during World War II, while he
was stationed at Newberry Col
lege as pharmacist mate with the
Naval Unit.

Entertainment Plans
Made For Hi Seniors
One of the forms of entertain
ment which is planned by New
berry college for those high-
school seniors who will be Its
guests for the weekend of Febru
ary 15 to 17 will be the Newber-
ry-P. C. basketball game the
night of the 16th. These two
schools are ti^ditional rivals and
always offer a spirited contest,
thus assuring the guests of a good
time. '
Other activities of the weekend
will include a program by the
Newberry College Singers and
a movie show on Saturday after
noon, and other entertainment is
being planned for Saturday night.
On Saturday morning the guests
will have the opportunity of visit
ing any of the college classes
they choose and of conferring, if
they desire, with any member of
the faculty in whose department
they may be interested. Sun
day morning has been reserved
for Sunday School and worship
services.

“Thinking Day”
By Girl Scouts
February 22 is the birthday of
both Lord and Lady Baden-Powell,
pioneers of Boy and Girl Scouts
and Girl Guides, and of course,
in this country, is observed as
George Washington’s birthday,
too. Since 1926, this date has
been set aside as Thinking Day,
when Girl Guides and-Girl Scouts
all over the world think of each
other and what Guiding and
Scouting mean.
When Juliette Low died in
1927, it was felt that the best
memorial was one that would
continue her work of developing 1

weekend is being planned for
February 22 to 24, at which time
another group of high-school
seniors from this state and sur
rounding areas will be present.
High school seniors from high
schools within a radius of twenty
miles of Newberry have been ex
tended an invitation to be present
for one of the weekends.
All activities have been plan-
ned to give the visitors an en
joyable weekend and will be in
formal. No evening dresses or
dress suits will be needed and
of course there will be no ex
pense for the visitors. '

each year of their age to the cab

ing their games, singing' their
