NOTICE
SGT. RENO WITH IX CORPS
According to Harry Avedisian,
Assistant Forester of the /New
berry District, 100 tracts of land,
containing 18,930 acres, have
been examined by the district
personnel since July 1, 1951. In
addition, 33 tracts containing 1,-
723 acres were selectively mark
ed. The amount marked was
2,055,621 board feet of sawtimber
and 439 cords of pulpwood.
IN KOREA
Sgt. Harry L. Reno, husband
of Mrs. Essie Reno, of Whitmire,
is serving with the 142nd Quarter
master Battalion, a part of IX
Corps, now serving on the Ko
rean central front.
T^e unit is responsible for
supplying IX Corps forces with
such vital items as rations,
clothing, oil and gasoline.
Any landowner can have a
State forester examine his timber
free of charge. Advice is given
as to the best method of hand
ling the timber. If marking is
required, an estimate is given the
landowner of the amount mark
ed. This marking service will
cost the landowner a small fee of
50c per thousand board feet of

HOME FROM HOSPITAL
Mrs. George Hawkins, who has
been a patient Rf the Columbia
hospital for the past ten days
receiving treatment for adhesions
on her forehead, from the re
sult of an auto accident in Sep
tember, returned to her home
near the city Tuesday afternoon
and is recuperating nicely.

between the ages of twenty-one

tax. All persons between the
ages of twenty-one and fiftjy out
side of incorporated towns and
cities are liable to pay com
mutation (road) tax of $1.00. All
dogs are to be taxed at $1.00
each.
