there’d even be a scene where you’d

Judy: Uh, uh. Tne studio asked

Joe: A new 1951 bathin’ suit?
What was it like?
Judy: A bottle of siiman oil and

Repeat Performance
The hen pecked husband was
told that his wife had been kissed by
a pal of his at a party the night
before. “She was shocked speech
less,” said the informant. “What
utre you going to do about it?”
! The husband grinned and said,
*T’m going to ask my pal to drop
by the house and kiss her every
night.”
THE CLINCHER
A youngster was delighted to
receive two live baby rabbits for
an Easter present. He enjoyed them
•ven more as they grew up, but
they became a nuisance to his
parents.
The mother and father began to
consider various ways of disposing
of the rabbits without breaking their
little boy’s heart. One day the
father asked: “Phil,. how about
Slaving one of your rabbits for
dinner tonight?”
The child’s face brightened, and
he said: “Sure, Daddy, but how
would hel hold his spoon?”
They kept the rabbits.

SADDLE SAD
The widow who had arrived with
her grown daughter at the dude
ranch yesterday was now pacing
up and down the flagstone porch of
the lodge, waiting for her daughter
to return from a horseback ride.
As the mother paced, she feared,
more and more, that the horse had
fallen or shied or bucked, or some
thing.
At long last, there came the
sound of hoofs, and the mother saw
her daughter and a dude wrangler
come around the comer of the
building. Loudly the mother cried:
“Oh, darling. I’m so grateful. I’U
bet I’ve walked ten miles up and
down this porch waiting for you to
get here!”
“You should be grateful, dear,”
said the young lady, stiffly, pain
fully dismounting, “that you didn’t
have to ride a horse that far.”
Energy Saving
They sat silently in front of the
fire, smoking their pipes, crossing
and uncrossing their legs. After a
long period of silence, the father
said, "Son, step outside and see if
it’s raining.”
Without looking up, the son an
swered, “Aw, Pop, why don’t ye
jest call in the dog and see if he’s
wet?”
DIFFERENCE OF OPINION
Little Johnny was doing his
homework. His problem was: A
trucker had fifty crates of fepples
to sell for $16 apiece. If he sold
them all, what would he get?
Johnny was getting nowhere fast
and Mother decided to help him.
“It’s easy,” she said, “you just
multiply fifty by ten.” “Oh, I
know that,” said Johnny. “The
answer is $500. Bnt then it says:
‘What would he get?’ I know
I’d get a repeating rifle, bnt how
do I know what he’d get?”

Salad Dressing
A quick salad dressing can be
made by blending two tablespoons
of tomato paste with six table
spoons of mayonnaise. Season this
with grated onion, a dash of chili
powder, and a few drops of tabas
co sauce. This is very good with
meat or fish salads.

FIRST AID to the
AlUNG HOUSE
BY ROGER C. WHITMAN
Walls Cracked by Earthquake
QUESTION: After a recent
earthquake I noticed that the out
side plaster of my house was
cracked all over on all four sides
of the house. What can I use to
fill up these cracks?
ANSWER: I suppose you mean
“stucco” when you speak of
“piaster.^* If the stucco had only
a few large cracks, they could
probably be repaired. Since it is
cracked all over, you may need to
have it stripped off and new stuc
co applied. Large cracks should
first be widened and deepened,
then patched with a cement mor
tar. The usual mortar mixture for
stucco repair is one part Portland
cement, either white or gray, and
three parts clean, coarse sand,
with just enough water to make a
workable mixture. Or you can get
a ready mixed patching mortar—
which is not the same thing as
patching plaster. When widening
a crack for filling, cut into it so
that the groove is wider at the
lath than at the surfa6e. Brush out
all loose cement, and then soak
the edges well with water. Pack
with mortar, and just before the
patch sets, work the surface into
a texture to match that of the stuc
co. Keep the patches wet for three
or four days so that the cement
will cure. Sometimes a white stuc
co wall can be matched with a
white cement and light yellow
building sand, or white marble
dust. For a good even effect, you
can coat the whole wall with a
dampproof cement paint. Very
narrow hair line cracks can ne
filled by painting the stucco with
the cement base paint. Get your
materials from a dealer in build
ing or masonry supplies. A stucco
repair man would know what
would be best to do.
