On vacation from school, I had
been making the rounds of Los
Angeles business houses one day
vainly looking for a summer job.
Finally I decided to tackle just
one more establishment and really
sell myself. I proceeded to\enact
the part of a live wire—oozed con

and assuredly, then searched my
mind for a final punch line. “In
