TO WIN NEW FRIENDS
Miss Catherine Long of Sil
vers treet and Columbia, and
Mr. Everett Royce Wiles of
Jamestown and Columbia, were
married on Saturday evening,
April 15, 1950, at seven o’clock
in the Silverstreet Lutheran
church.
The impressive double ring
ceremony was performed 'by
Rev. E. K. Counts, pastor of
:he bride, in the presence of
a large assemblage of relatives
and friends.
The altar and church was
decorated with tall floor bas
kets of white Easter lilies,
palm leaves and potted palms.
White cathedral candles in
seven branched candelabra,
which were lighted by Donald
Long, shed a soft brilliance over
the lovely scene. The nuptial
music was furnished by Mrs.
Barry McAdams of Chappells,
pianist; Mrs. J. H. Bowers, Jr.,
and Mrs. Grady Force of Sil
verstreet, vocalist. The tradi
tional wedding marches were
used.
Mrs. Hubert Blake, Jr., of
Milton, West Virginia, twin sis
ter of the bride, was matron
of honor, and Miss Elizabeth
Sanders of Silverstreet, cousin
of the bride was maid of honor.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was lovely in a
gown of white bridal .satin
which featured a marquisette
yoke, long fitted sleeves, end
ing in calla lily points over the
hands, with the bodice fasten
ed with a row of tiny self-cov
ered buttons down her back.
The bauffant skirt had dainty
lace inserts to the hem line in
front and extended into a full
length train. Her fingertip veil
fell from a coronet of orange
blossoms. She wore a single
strand of pearls, gift of the
bridegroom, as her only orna
ment. She carried an arm bou
quet of white carnations, cen
tered with a purple orchid,
tied with white satin ribbon
which was showered with lace
fern and lily of the valley.
The bride’s mother wore a
dinner dress of aqua and an
orchid corsage.
Following the ceremony, a
reception was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Angus D.
Senn, brother-in-law . and sis
ter of the bride.
* For her wedding trip, th?
bride wore a taveling suit of
wheat-field gabardine with
blond accessories and the or
chid corsage lifted from her
bridal bouquet.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Grady Long
K)f Silverstreet. She graduated
from Silverstreet high school in
1944 and attended Newberry
College. For the past five years
she has been employed in the
office of the Collector of In
ternal Revenue in Columbia.
The bridegroom is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wiles, Sr.,
of Jamestown. He is a gradu
ate of Macedonia high school
and Columbia Commercial Col
lege. At present, he is connect
ed with the Southeastern Con
crete Products Company in
Casey.
The young couple are mak
