enumerators are needed for
this county for the work which
begins March 27. Possession of

J. Hack Summer, oldest mer
chant in years as well as in
point of service, reached his
90th birthday Thursday. Mr.
Summer retired from business
last year. His health is fairly
good and he is devoting his
time to his life-long hobby of
gardening at which he is some
what of an expert.
Mrs. H. L. Parr and son, C.
B. Parr, Sr., spent Saturday in
Statesville in the home of Mrs.
Parr’s grandson, Rev. Louis
Patrick and family. The Pat
ricks are planning to move to
Charlotte next week where Mr.
Patrick has accepted a call to
the First ARP church.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Haw
kins announce the birth of a
son, Miles Chester, Jr., Monday
at the county hospital.
