LOOK OUT FOR BOTH
A Washington dispatch quotes
Senator Byrd as saying that a
tax increase in 1948 seems in
evitable to prevent the feder
al government from reverting
to deficit spending. But if
Congres sgrants all the “gim-
mie” demands, won’t deficit
spending and tax increases both
be inevitable? — New Orleans
Times-Picayune.

Canteen Holds Party
The Canteen was the scene
of a Christmas party on Wed
nesday night, Dec. 15, when
the grride mothers, Mrs. D. A.
Bedenbaugh and Mrs. Boyce
Hawkins entertained the mem
bers of the eleventh grade of
the Prosperity school. Upon en
tering the guests were given
holly corsages with silver bells.
A number of games and con
tests were enjoyed with prizes
given the winners. Old Santa
was there,, and getting prizes
from his grab bag afforded lots
of fun.
Prosperity Garden Club
The annual Christmas meet
ing of the Prosperity Garden
Club was held Monday after
noon with Mrs. R. T. Pugh
as hostess. .^The approaching
holiday season was suggested in
all the decorations, including
a brilliantly lighted tree.
In the absence of the presi
dent and vice president, Mrs.
T. A. Dominick, secretary, prei
sided over the meeting. The
club voted to contribute to
CROP.
Miss Mary Alice Suber and
Dr. Amos D. Wells were quiet

at the home of the bride’s
mother, Mrs. W. H. Suber, and
her brother and sister, Mr.

niece little Miss Claudia Setz
ler sang “The Lord’s Prayer”
as a part of the service.
The house was tastily decor
ated in Christmas greens, red
and white roses, gladiolas, and
snapdragons. After the cere
mony, a wedding breakfast was
served.
Dr. and Mrs. Wells left for
a short trip before returning
to their home in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, where Mrs. Wells
