C. spent the weekend with Miss Ellen Wheler. Miss Wheeler accompanied them home for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. C. Mower Sing- ley and their daughter, Patty, are visiting Mrs. Singley’s mo ther. Mrs. J. R. Powell in Swainsboro, Ga., for the Thanksgiving holidays. Mrs. Rufus C. Counts of Col umbia and Wilmington, N. C. is spending the week with her Sister. Mrs. J. I. Bedenbaugh and other relatives. Miss Clare Chappell spent spent the weekend in Colum bia with her aunt, Mrs. C. E. Hendrix and family. Dr. and Mrs. George W. Har mon were in Greenville last Wednesday and Thursday for the funeral of Mr. E. P. Hart- sell. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sease were Mrs. Elton Sease and Mrs. Herman Richardson and son, “Rick” of Columbia, and Mrs. Tom Sease and children of Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Andrey Shealy, Misses Martha Bundrick and Irene Shealy of Jocksonville, Fla., will spend the Thanks giving holidays with T. C. Hawkins and family. Miss Faye Hawkins who is working in Jacksonville and who had been on a visit home will re turn to Jacksonville with them. Miss Edith Dill of the high school faculty is spending the weekend at her home in Lan drum. Miss Ethel Counts and her mother, Mlrs. E. O. Counts are visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Schrum in Lincoln ton, N., C. this weekend. Miss Marguerite Wise of Col umbia is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Young. Martin, passed away Saturday night at the Newberry County Hospital. * Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock from the graveside in Spring- dale cemetery with Rev. H. J. Lindler conducting the service. He is survived by his par ents, Jesse B. and Reba Domi nick Martin 0 f Newberry. Also his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Martin of New berry, and maternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira G. Dominick of Prosperity. They were made with low necklines, long torso and drap'- ed hiplines which formed bus tle back bows over full dirndl skirts. They wore long match ing mits and carried arm bou quets of yellow chrysanthe mums tied with green ribbon. The maid of honor. Miss Ann Culbertson, of Erskine CoUege, wore a dress of gold satin fashioned like those of the other attendants and she car ried bronze chrysanthemums. The lovely bride, given in marriage by her brother, E. M. Lipscomb, Jr., of the Citadel, wore a charming wedding dress of white bridal satin featuring a yoke of marquiesette outlined in seed pearls. The long fitted sleeves ended in points over the hands. The dress fastened with self-covered buttons in the back to the scaloped waistline and the full skirt ended in a long train. Her full length veil of imported lace fell from a cornet of seed pearls. Her bri dal boquet of white roses was centered with a white orchid. She wore a single strand of pearls, gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Lipscomb, mother of the bride, wore a dinner dress of orchid pink crepe and a laven der orchid corsage. Mrs. George Epps, grand mother of the bride, wore an aqua dress with a corsage of pink rosebuds. , Mrs. Gregg is the attractive daughter of Mrs. Edwin Mar shall Lipscomb, and the late Mir. Lipscomb. She attended the local city schools and is a popular member of the younger set. Mr. Gregg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William McCall Gregg of Florence. He attended the Florence schools and Newberry College. He served two and a half years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. A reception was- held at the home of the bride on College street immediately after ^the ceremony. During the evening the cou ple left for a wedding trip.
