they entertained at a miscella
neous shower Monday afternoon
at Adams Camp. Sweet peas in
artistic arrangements were used
in the camp dining-room where
the party was held. Sweet pea
corsages were given as favors.
Several bridal contests were
enjoyed.
A fish plate with tea was ser
ved.
The Literary Sorosis met Fri
day afternoon with Mrs. H. B.
Hendrix. Miss Effie Hawkins
and Mrs. H. L. Shealy shared
the pleasures of the afternoon
with the club members.
Two South Carolina schools
were the subjects discussed by
Mrs. Jacob S. Wheeler and Mrs.
B. T. Young. Mrs. Wheeler gave
the high lights of Dr. Moses
Waddell’s school of the early
days in South Carolina, while
Mrs. Young gave the history of
the John de la Howe school
from its founding in 1797 to
the present time.
Mrs. C. T. Wyche, president
thanked the members for their
work in canvassing for the Can
cer Drive. About $150 was col
lected.

were: President, Mrs. C. T. Wy
che, vice-president, Mrs. B. T.
Young: Secretary, Miss Eleanor
Shearouse and Treasurer, Mrs.
H. E. Counts, Sr.
During the social period the
hostess served a tempting salad
plate with iced punch.
The Missionary Society of
Grace Church will meet Friday
afternoon at 3:30 at the church.
Four members from the Pros
perity 4 H club attended the
Dress Review in Newberry
Saturday. Two prizes were cap
tured by the Prosperity group.
Miss Adella Bedenbaugh won
first place and Miss Hazel Mi-
nick was placed third.
Examinations were completed
in the Prosperity school this
week. The session will end Mon
day when the students come for
their report cards.
Although there were no com
mencement exercises due to the
inauguration of the twelfth
grade, two members of the ele
venth grade, Frances Mills and
Frank Hill. Jr., will graduate
and participate in the joint
county exercises at the Newber
ry high school auditorium Wed
nesday evening. May 26.
