PROSPERITY (Continued from Front Page) Mre. W. L. Sineath, Mrs. R. W. Brown, Mrs. Alvin Adams, Mrs. Raymond Adams and Miss Dorothy Adams Complimented their sister-in-law, Mrs. Grady Adams, a recent bride, when they entertained at a miscella neous shower Monday afternoon at Adams Camp. Sweet peas in artistic arrangements were used in the camp dining-room where the party was held. Sweet pea corsages were given as favors. Several bridal contests were enjoyed. A fish plate with tea was ser ved. The Literary Sorosis met Fri day afternoon with Mrs. H. B. Hendrix. Miss Effie Hawkins and Mrs. H. L. Shealy shared the pleasures of the afternoon with the club members. Two South Carolina schools were the subjects discussed by Mrs. Jacob S. Wheeler and Mrs. B. T. Young. Mrs. Wheeler gave the high lights of Dr. Moses Waddell’s school of the early days in South Carolina, while Mrs. Young gave the history of the John de la Howe school from its founding in 1797 to the present time. Mrs. C. T. Wyche, president thanked the members for their work in canvassing for the Can cer Drive. About $150 was col lected. Officers elected for next year were: President, Mrs. C. T. Wy che, vice-president, Mrs. B. T. Young: Secretary, Miss Eleanor Shearouse and Treasurer, Mrs. H. E. Counts, Sr. During the social period the hostess served a tempting salad plate with iced punch. The Missionary Society of Grace Church will meet Friday afternoon at 3:30 at the church. Four members from the Pros perity 4 H club attended the Dress Review in Newberry Saturday. Two prizes were cap tured by the Prosperity group. Miss Adella Bedenbaugh won first place and Miss Hazel Mi- nick was placed third. Examinations were completed in the Prosperity school this week. The session will end Mon day when the students come for their report cards. Although there were no com mencement exercises due to the inauguration of the twelfth grade, two members of the ele venth grade, Frances Mills and Frank Hill. Jr., will graduate and participate in the joint county exercises at the Newber ry high school auditorium Wed nesday evening. May 26. Dennis Bedenbaugh and Bon ny Ray Stockman of Clemson . Roy Summer “THE MAN’S SHOP” attended the Shrine Spring Ce-1 remonial in Spartanburg Wed nesday. Mrs. J. F. Perry of Jackson ville, Fla., was the guest last week of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Perry. With the Perrys last week were Mrs. Mayo Creel of Hemingway and Mrs. Eargle of Peak. Miss Dorothy Adams spent the weekend with Mrs. Pat Scott in Newberry. Miss Mary Wessinger was the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Dow Bedenbaugh, in Kinards over the weekend. Mrs. D. A. White of Roanoke, Va., has been on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Sauer. Mr. and Mrs. Cole Wessinger accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Voight Wessinger of Leesville to Clemson Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Harmon and their little daughter, Linda, spent Sunday with Mrs. Har mon’s father, A. M. Stoudemire, in Little Mountain. Rev. W. D. Haltiwanger and Dr. J. B. Harman spent Friday in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harman spent Sunday with her father, Mr. Tom Bedenbaugh and fam ily in the O’Neall Commiunity. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Black spent Sunday in Holly Hill with Mr. and Mrs. James Wright Be denbaugh. They also saw their little four weeks old great grandson, James Edward My ers. for the first time. Miss Sara Neel Richardson of Ballentine was the weekend vi sitor of her cousin. Miss Annie Eargle. Kenmeth Bpting is visiting his brother, Voight M. Epting, and family in Estill. Mr. and Mrs. R. I. Long and family were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Stone in Newberry Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Schumpert and their little daughter, Sandra, were weekend guests of Mrs. Schumlpert’s father in Newber ry. Mrs. Otway Shealy and chil dren spent Saturday with her mother. Mrs. G. L. Wise, above Newberry. Mrs. Wise had just returned home from the hospi tal. Judge C. C. Wyche of Spar tanburg spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. C. T. Wyche. Mrs. Jacob S. Wheeler joined her sister, Mrs. Bryson of Winns boro for a several weeks stay at Mrs. Bryson’s summer home at Crescent Beach. 'Mr. and Mrs. Page Robert son and two daughters, Janet Hamm of Columbia spent Sun day with Mr and Mrs. Jeff Harmon. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hawkins and their two daughters, Edna and Joan, and Wallace Moore spent Sunday in McConnells- ville as guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Aycock. Mr. and Mrs. Howard White and family spent the weekend with relatives in Spartanburg. Mrs. T. M. Sease and children of Clinton were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sease. Mr. and Mrs. A. W Smith of Fayetteville, Tenn., are visiting their daughter, Mrs. J. B. Mc- Ferrin and the Rev. McFerrin. Mrs. W. L. Campbell and daughter, June, of Clemson are visiting Mr and Mrs. Carroll S. Mills. Mrs. Oscar Wessinger was the leader for recreation and conducted guessing contest with peanuts. Mrs. C. S. Wessinger was lucky. Miss Mary Wessinger was an invited guest. The hostess served delicious strawberry shortcake and iced tea. Mrs. Von A. Long entertained the third grade of the Prosper ity school of which her son. Von Anderson Jr. is a member, Wednesday morning at her Friends of R. C. (Dick) Ster ling announce him as a candi date for the office of Supervi sor and pledge that he will abide the results of the Demo cratic primary election. He is a veteran of World War I. The climax of the fun was the grab bag from which each student received a souvenir. MEMBERS ATTEND STATE BPW MEET Mrs. Ruby Abrams, Mrs. E. E. Epting, Mrs. A. H. Counts and Mrs. Mamie Hawkins were members of the Newberry Busi ness and Professional Women’s club who attended the state convention held in Charleston last weekend at the Fort Sum ter hotel.
