Hinton, president of the South Carolina state conference of the national association for the advancement of colored peo ple wrote me a letter. In the last paragraph, he stated ‘segre- aition, discrimination, disfran- onisement and all inequalities must go, and to this end our NAACP has committed itself . . . segregation is unconstitu tional, unchristian, and it must go.’ ” “We can no longer look to the Democratic party in the North to help us as they have in the past,” said Judge Blease. “The politicians are catering to this minority vote. They think South Carolina and the other Sou thern states will be in the bag.” Judge Blease deplored the statement made by Judge Wa ring of the Federal district court, in making the decision that negroes would be allowed to vote in the Democratic pri mary. “ . . . A South Carolina judge has insulted the people of South Carolina, when he stated that ‘it is time for South Carolina to rejoin the union.’ South Carolina has always re sponded in times of war . . . they laid aside their grey uni forms and donned' the blue of the United States army in the Spanish American war; they fought in World War I, and in World War II so nobly, and this judge tells us it is time for South Carolina to rejoin the union. It is an insult to all white people in South Carolina for the Supreme Court of the United States to refuse to con sider the appeal made to this REMEMBER Especially on Mother’s Day!
