SCES Finds Jobs
For Disabled Vets
Of the 31,116 employed veter
ans placed in jobs by the South
Carolina State Employment
service, the Newberry office
contributed 579 placements with
105 of these being disabled vet
erans, according to A. Bostain,
manager of the local SCES of
fice which serves Newberry
and Saluda counties.
During the year, 3,275 handi
capped veterans were paced in
jobs in South Carolina.
In Newberry, jobs are needed
for 205 veterans who have ex
perience in such fields as cler
ical and sales, construction,
skilled and semi-skilled trades,
stated Mr. Bostain. Empoyers
needing workers shoud call 122
or place their orders by mail or
in person with the office which
is located at 1015 Caldwell
street.

Alexander Palmer Kelly, Jr., of
Wilmington. N. C. The wedding
will be in the early spring.
Miss Bowers in a graduate of
Newberry High School and of
Winthrop College, where she
was active in. many organiza
tions. She was a member of
Senior Order and Book and Key.
She later received a M. S. De
gree from the New York School
of Social Work, Columbia Uni
versity, in psychiatric social
work. Since that time, she has
been with the Red Cross at
Pratt General Hospital, Miami,
Fla., and Oliver General hospi
tal, Augusta, Ga.
Dr. Kelly is the son of Col.
Mrs. O. F. Armfield, Sr., left
Tuesday morning to spend the
week in Statesville, N. C., with
her daughter, Mrs. D. H. Mc-
Hargue, Mr. McHargue and son,
Danny.
