, Friday, November 14, 1947 The Newberry Sun _ LANA KAY GODFHY Lana Kay Godfry, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Os borne Godfry, died late Sunday night at the Newberry county hospital. Funeral services were held at the graveside in Whitmire cem etery Monday afternoon with Rev. W. S. Allred conducting the services. Besides her parents, she is survived by her paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Godfry, and maternal grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. William Cul- breth. PHILIPS MISS ERIN TAYLOR Correspondent Rev. J. B. Harman of New berry delivered a fine sermon in St. Philips church Sunday af ternoon to a large crowd present. Mrs. Pinckney Abrams and Mrs. Elmer Epting of Newberry entertained their Sunday school class Saturday night, November 8th, at Mrs. Abrams home on Walnut street with a delightful party. Those enjoying the oc casion were Mary Pinner Kodn, Ernestine Livingston, Barbara Tayior, Betty Jean Wicker, Peg gy Folk, Jean King, Clara Lou Ruff, Fairy Wicker, and Mc- Hardy. Oxner. Games were en joyed by all, and delicious re- ireshments were served by the hostesses. Mrs. Sara Ruff, Jimmie and Norma Ruff, and Mr. Fred Hentz attended the Baptism service at the First Baptist church in Newberry Sunday. While in Newberry they were supper guests of Mr. and 'Mrs Walter Tarrer. We are glad to welcome into our midst Mrs. Mollie Cromer of Newberry, who is making her home now with Mr. and Mrs. W A. Crumpton and family, rela tives of Mrs. Cromer. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Abrams and little daughter of Greens boro, N. C., spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. A. E. Lominick, and Mr. and Mrs Henry Lominick. Mr. and Mrs. James Hayes and family of Anderson spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Harris of Clinton were weekend guests in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Crumpton. Mr. J. D. H. Kinard of the Bachman - Chapel section is spending a while with his sister, Mrs. R. N. Taylor. Green of Whitmire were weekend guests in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor. Mrs. Levi Koon and children of Newberry spent Sunday witn Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Crumpton. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Halfacre and son of Irmo spent the week end with their relatives in the community. Miss Lillian Ruff of Irmo, and Wilbur Ruff of Spartanburg were at home the'weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Ruff. CHAPPELLS MRS. L. E. WERTS Correspondent Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Arant at tended the game of Wofford and P. C. at Clinton Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Scurry, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Johnson at tended the Clemson - Furman game at Greenville Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Haskei Adams, Charleston spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Martin. We are glad to know that Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Martin have bought the E. L. Cook home and are going to move in, in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Werts, Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Carlson went to see Mr. Werts’ sister, Mrs. Sal- lie Knox, Columbia; who was in jured by a car a few days ago. She is improving and will soon be able to be at work again. Mrs. Frances Webb, Aiken, spent the weekend at home here. J. B. McAdams and J. C. Ar ant had supper with the Am erican Legion at Red’s Place Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Harris were visiting in the home of M. L. Connelly Saturday. Mrs. S. Basha and daughter, Selma spent part of last week at Georgetown and Charleston visiting relatives. Mrs. C. L. Smith’s son, who has been in the Navy is visiting her at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dominick were Newberry visitors Thurs day. W. A. Webb was a visitor in Columbia over the weekend. Mary Frances Coleman, New berry College spent the week end at home. Francis Boazman, nurse of Co lumbia spent the past Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Boazman. Miss Lilly May Workman and Mrs. J. B. Scurry were shopping in Newberry one day recently. Mrs. J. W. Long, Mrs. J. E. Long and Mrs. Edith Merchant visited Newberry Monday. Mrs. W. E. Spearman, who has been visiting in South Georgia and Florida has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Swindler and mother Mrs. J. T. Swindler have been visiting relatives in Georgia and Florida for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Guy, Dominick are receiving congratulations V'. the arrival of a new -daughter born on November fifth. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Scurry, Greenwood, visited relatives and friends here Saturday. We are sorry to know that Billy Dipner was injured in an accident near Hendersonville, N. C., last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Whittle have been visiting in Greens boro N. C., and Columbia for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Carlson visited in the community Sun day. Ralph Boazman, Newberry College spent the weekend with home folk. Mr. Albert Feagle of Atlanta, Ga., spent a few days this week in the home of his brother, W. Ray Feagle, and Mrs. Feagle.
