Honors Bride-Elect
The Copeland home on Main
street was the scene of one of the
season’s loveliest social events
last Friday afternoon, when Mrs.
O. O. Copeland and Mrs. O. O.
Copeland, Jr., honored Miss Mary
Wheeler, bride-elect, with a recep
tion. Miss Wheeler’s marriage to
Wilson C. Kizer took place Wed
nesday of this week.
The home, thrown en suite for
the occasion, was decorated with
a variety of summer and early fall
flowers. Roses and chrysanthe
mums, attractively arranged, were
used in the living room.
Greeting guests at the door were
Mrs. P. D. Johnson, Sr., and Mrs.
R. P. Medley. Mrs. Adrian Sum
mer introduced the guests to the
receiving line: Mrs. Copeland, Sr.,
Miss Wheeler, Mrs. Copeland, Jr.,
Miss Alice McLean, also a bride-
elect of this month, Mrs. Robert
Sproul, Jr. (Mary Jane Hanna),
Mrs. P. M. Fant, and Mrs. W. C.
Shealy of Clinton. Entertaining
in the living room were Mrs. But
ler Holmes, Mrs. J. H. Summer,
Mrs. D. L. Nance, Sr., and Mrs.
May T. Stuck, who rendered piano
selections .appropriate to the oc
casion.
Mrs. W. R. Feagie and Mrs. W.
E. Monts invited the guests into
the dining room. The table, cover
ed with an Irish lace cloth, was
centered with an artistic arrange
ment of white gladioli, dahlias and
fern in a crystal bowl, placed on a
reflector and flanked on either side
by tapers in crystal candle hold
ers. A green and white motif was
used in other floral decorations in
the room, and green and white ice
cream, green individual cakes, and
green and white mints were serv-

of Whitmire invited the guests in
to the living room on the right,
where Mrs. M. W. Todd, Jr., and
Miss Irene Hipp of Clinton pre
sided over the bride’s register.
Mrs. Frank Lominack, Jr., and
Mrs. T. B. Dukes served delicious
punch, while Mrs. Douglas Horns
by and Mrs. Chester Hawkins en
tertained.
Mrs. Forrest Summer and Mrs.
James McLean, Sr., were at the
door to bid farewell to guests.

AT FURMAN SATURDAY
The Piedmont District Council of
Farm Women will meet at the Fine
Arts building, Furman university,
Greenville, on Saturday, Septem
ber 27, at 10:00 a.m.
All farm women are urged to
