Pleasant Remedy
Down to the combination drug
store and liquor dispensary ol a
Tennessee village came a grizzled
mountaineer with a huge empty
bottle.
“Ah wants me some whisky," he
told the dealer, handing him the
bottle, “and Ah wants me some
sulphur."
“In the same bottle?" asked the
dealer.
“Uh-huh,” answered the moun
taineer. He placed his finger about
halt an inch from the bottom of the
bottle. “Fill her up to thar with
sulphur,” he said, “and then finish
filling her up with whisky.”
“When you get the stuff in there,"
said the dispenser, “Just how do
you use it?”
“Well, pardner, it's this way,”
explained the mountaineer. “When
Ah wants a dose of sulphur and
whisky Ah jes’ shake her up afore
Ah drink, and when Ah don’t want
no sulphur. Ah don’t shake her.”
With a wink, he added, “Ah
seldom shakes her.”

Savage Terriers
American bull terriers trained
for pit fighting develop such sav

ner will, if allowed, tear his dead
opponent to pieces. Yet these ani

gentle toward human beings that
they are, as a rule, worthless as
watchdogs.

An Alton woman teacher in try

word “slowly” illustrated it by

When she asked the class to tell

fainted when a boy at the foot of
the class shouted: “Bow-legged.”

“At 3 p. m.,” replied the station

“When will the next train be

"What about the northbound

“It’s not due until 8 p. m.”
“And the southbound train?”

“What in blazes Is wrong now?.”
asked the boy.
“You and your early risA’i"

CHAMPION 0H G rVp“j
Champion FARMERS, and farmers
generally, are changing to Firestone
Champion Ground Grip tires . . .
insisting upon them when they buy
new tires ... specifying them when
they order new tractors.
That's because the new Champion
cleans up to 100% more effectively;
pulls up to 62% more; lasts up to 91 %
longer. And it rolls more smoothly
over highways.
There are sound reasons for this
superiority. The curved connected
traction bars flare outward from the
center, and mud falls freely from the
wider shoulder openings. The extra
high, curved, pyramid-like bars cut into
the soil with a cleaving action, and
because they are connected, the bars
take a powerful “center bite” in the
heart of the traction zone. Extra height,
Triple-Bracing, and buttressing at the
base give the traction bars greater
strength . . . lengthen tire life. The
curved connected bars are in continue
ous contact with the highway, insuring
a smooth ride.
Insist upon Firestone Champion
Ground Grips when you buy new tires,
or order a aiew tractor. They cost no
more than ordinary tractor tires.
