r THE NEWBERRY SUN FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1946 Purely PERSONAL Misses Meriam Watson and Doro thy Skinner, and Miss Link and Miss Harris of Columbia, spent the wetkend in the home of Dick Boul- ware. Louis Boulware returned to his home in Scottsville, Pa., on October 27, after a few days visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Boulware. His mother returned with him for a ten-day visit. Herbert L. Boulware and Mrs. Marker Martin spent the weekend in Scottsville, Va., with Mr. Boul- ware’s son, Louis Boulware. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Herbert Boulware, who spent ten days with her son in Virginia. Dr. Ralph B. Baker, Mrs. H. L. Parr and Mrs. S. B. Jones attended the golden wedding annivfersary of Rev. and Mrs. V. Y. Boozer which was held in Leesville Monday evening, October 4th. The many friends of Mrs R. B. Baker, will be glad to learn that she returned to her home on E. Main street last Thursday from the General hospital in Greenville, where she underwent a throat operation on Monday of last week. Mrs. Baker is reported to be doing nicely. Mrs. Verona Dominick and daughter, Mrs. James DeHart of Spartanburg, left Saturday morn ing for a 15 day visit in Orlando, Florida with Mrs. Dominick’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Salter, and niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Rine hart, also in Orlando. Mrs. J. S. Pruitt spent Saturday and Saturday night at Clemson in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl M. McHugh and family, who accompanied her back to Newberry Sunday morning to spend the day. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Floyd, Jr., of Charlotte, and Miss Dorothy Floyd, a student at Queens College in Charlotte, were weekend guests in the home *>f their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Floyd on Mayer avenue. Dr. and Mrs. Elbert J. Dickert and small son, Neal, of Columbia, and Miss Tempie Thornton, a mem ber of the Whitmire school faculty, spent Sunday in the home of Mrs. Neal W. Workman on Boundary street. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Holloway moved Monday from the Brown apartment on Calhoun street into an apartment in the home of Mrs. Ep- sie Buzhardt, recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Claude Buzhardt. Mr. and .Mrs. Frank Feagle of New York were weekend visitors in the home of Mr. Feagle’s broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Feagle on Boundary street. Miss Barbara Felker, a member of the freshman class at Winthrop college speht a short while with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Fel ker, Sunday, en route to Columbia to attend the Lutheran Youth Rally. Miss Mary Hardin Keitt of Clem son college, spent the past weekend in the home of her father, T. E. Keitt in the Mt. Bethel Germany community.,. j-i ; : Miss Evelyn Leavell, a student at Agnes Scott college, spent the past weekend in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Leavell on College street. Mr. and Mrs. William W. John son of Columbia, were weekend visitors in the home of Mrs. John son’s mother, Mrs. H. O. Stone on Caldwell street. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Henry McCul lough and son Joe, of Conway, were weekend visitors in the home of Mr. McCullough’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. McCullough, Harrington street. Claude Buehardt, who has been making his home in Newberry with his mother, Mrs. Epsie Buzhardt on Boundary street since being dis charged from the navy, left Sun day for Burlington, N. C.’ where he assumed his duties with a store there in the capacity of manager. His wife is visiting her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Fred T. Wright, in Winston, Va., where she will remain until living quarters are available in Burlington. Mr. and Mrs .Bill Lindermann of Lancaster, spent the past week-end in Whitmire in the home of Mrs. Linderman’s mother, Mrs. Sarah Wallace and brother, Captain Cam Wallace. Miss Nell Kephart returned to her home in Brooklyn, N. Y., last week after a weeks visit here in the home of Rev. and Mrs. J. Aub rey Estes on Caldwell street. Miss Kephart will leave soon for Gene va, Switzerland, where she will attend the university there this winter. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Stadler and daughter, Carol, of Simpsonville, are visiting in the home of Mrs. Stadler’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Buchannan on Summer street. Rev. and Mrs. Gilbert Goodman and two children, Clyde Reuben and Mary Lois of Kannapolis, N. C-, and Miss Jane Goodman, a mem ber of the McMaster school faculty in Columbia, were weekend visi tors in the home of their parents. Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Goodman on the College campus. ' The Rev. John C. Peery, Jr., a Lutheran missionary in the Guntur District in India, was a weekend guest in the home of Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Goodman on the College campus. Reverend Peery made an address before the Woman’s Missionary Convention at Mayer Memorial church Saturday. Mrs. Kenneth Mims and son, Da vid Of Sumter, is spending a while in the home of Mrs. Mim’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Campbell on Harrington street. Prof. Morgan Randel of Olanta, joined his wife, the former Julia Smith and their small son, Jeffe, here Thursday and spent the week end in Anderson with friends. Mrs. J. H. Ruff, Mrs. W. C. Ruft and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ruff, spent Sunday in Orangeburg in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith. Misses Virginia Anderson and Mary Ann Davis spent the past weekend in Georgetown in the home of Prof, and Mrs. D. M. Lambeth. Johnson Hagood Clary and Jack Chappell left Newberry Wednesday for New York where they will spend a week buying Christmas merchandise for John Hagood Clary clothing store here. Mr. Chappell will also visit his sister, Mrs. Ford Kurtz and family while in New- York. Padgett, Sunday, November 3rd. Mr. and Mrs. Padgett returned to Charlotte with them where Mrs. Padgett will undergo medical treatment. The people of the community extend their sympathy to the rela tives of Mrs. Carrie Cook Gentry who passed away November first. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Werts, Jr., and son of Aiken, spent the week end with his patents on Drayton street. Sgt. Klugh Sanford of Fort Bragg is visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sanford on Poplar street. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Willingham and son are visiting his parents on Daisy street. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Shealy and Carolyn of Columbia spent Sun day with his sister Mrs. F. B. Cul- clasure. Mrs. Roy Creekmore took a group of Young people to the opera held in Columbia Friday night. Rev. and Mrs. A. H. Bauknight and children spent Sunday with his brother, Mr. B. A. Bauknight. Rev. Bauknight preached to a large audience in O’Neal Street Metho dist church on Sunday morning. The Boy Scout Troop No. 69 of our community is planning a cele bration of its 23rd anniversary during the month of November. Mrs. W. H. Ammons and grand daughter of Clinton spent Wednes day with Mrs. E. L. Miller. Mrs. Addie Livfingston is ill at her home on Wardlaw street. Miss Mabel Hiller is recuperating from an appendectomy at her home. Mrs. Dunnaway Turner gave a surprise birthday dinner for her daughter, Betty Joyce, October 28. John B. and Virgil Richardson of Davis street are undergoing treat ment at the Veterans hospial in Columbia. The Sunday services of the West End churches will be held at their regular hours. The entire community of West End is proud to know that Rev. C. F. DuBose has returned to O’Neal Street Methodist church for anoth er year. daughter, Doris, were visitors in Columbia Saturday. Mrs. Walter Lee has been dis missed from the local hospital after undergoing an operation there. Her many friend wish her a speedy re covery. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Parrott, Jr., and Mrs. Will Schumpert included Mr. and Mrs. Noel West of Charleston, Mrs. G. W. Shealy of Pomaria, and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Parrott, Sr., of Prosper ity. Mrs. Irene Boland and Mrs. Sara Henley were visitors in Columbia Saturday. Mss Betty Jean Gatlin spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Gatlin on Milligan street. Mr. and Mrs. Callie Duncan spent Saturday in Columbia. The many friends of Mrs. J. B. Martin will be glad to learn that she has been dismissed from the local hospital and is recuperating at her home on Milligan street.
