B. Purcell, and Heyward Davis attended the automobile deal ers’ convention at Myrtle Beach Monday and Tuesday of this week. Mrs. G. C. Hayes of Hartwell, Ga., is visiting in the home of her sister, Mrs. W. E. Monts on E. Main street. Mrs. A. H. Miller of Richmond, Va., and Africa is visiting her sis ter-in-law, Mrs. W. E. Monts and Prof. Monts on E. Main street. Sunday guests in the home of Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Goodman on the college campus were Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Goodman of Moores- ville, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. Buren Eagle of Petaluna, California, Miss Vernie Goodman of White Rock and Miss Jane Goodman, a mem ber of the McMaster school faculty in Columbia. Misses Betty, Sarah and Amelia Kennemore of Ninety-Six, spent the weekend in the home of their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Wilson on Boundary street. Dave Andrews and brother, R. B. Andrews of Atlanta, Ga., were weekend visitors in the home o£ Mr. and Mrs. John C. Wilson on Boundary street. Dave Andrews came to spend the weekend with his wife and daughter, Linda, who are spending a while in Newberry with Mrs. Andrews parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. Miss iFaye Davis, a member of the Great Falls School faculty, spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. W. H. Davis on Hunt street. Mrs. L. G. McCullough spent the weekend in the St. Philips com munity with Miss Lottie Lee Half acre. Mrs. Epsie Buzhardt was a week end visitor in the home of her sister, Mrs. D. C. Spearman and Mr.'Spearman in the county. Mrs. Tom Suber and two children and Mrs. Frank Mower of Whit mire, spent /Monday in Newberry on business. Miss Carolyn Young of Whitmire spent Tuesday in the city. Mrs. H. E. Handcock of Prosper ity was a visitor in Newberry Mon day. Mrs. W. B. Geter of Ninety-Six spent Saturday in Newberry on business. Miss Cornelia Mayer, a member of the Columbia city shcools facul- tly, spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. O. B. Mayer on E. Main street. Miss Pearl West, a teacher in the Columbia city schools, was a weekend guest in the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary West and other relatives on E. Main street. Mrs. Earl Watkins of Chappells, spent Wednesday in Newberry on business. Mrs. C. L. Mosley of Nnety-Six was a business visitor in the city Friday. Mrs. Dan Martin of Goldville was a business visitor here last Friday. Mrs. J. O. Counts of Prosperity, spent Friday jn the city on business. Mrs. D. E. Collins of Whitmire spent last Thursday in the city on business. Mrs. Rhett Adair of Clinton was a business visitor in Newberry last Thursday. Mrs. Corrie Cooper and Mrs. J. B. Baker of Whitmire, were bus iness visitors in Newberry Wednes day. Misses Mamie and Hattie Belle Crooks and their sister, Mrs. Bessie C. Crisp, have returned to their home «n E. Main street from an ex tended trip with relatives in Austin, San Antinio, and Huntsvlle, Texas. Messrs. E. M. Lane, Floyd Lane and Pierce C. Davis are spending this week in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Beard spent the weekend in Charlotte, N. C., with Mr. Beard’s parents. Mrs. B. B. Bell has returned from a visit with her son, Donald Cald well and family in Oklahoma City, Okla. Mrs. Caldwell and small son, Ronnie accompanied her home for a visit here. Mrs. George Tyson, HI, and small son, Ned of Savannah, Ga., are spending two weeks in the home of Mrs. Tyson’s mother, Mrs. Georgia Welborn and garndmother, Mrs. E. O. Hentz on College street. Mrs. Roland Felker spent the past weekend at Winthrop College witn her daughter, Barbara, who is a member of the freshman class. Miss Fannie McCaughrin left last Thursday for a two or three weeks visit in Winsdor, Canada with her cousin. Miss Mattie McCaughrin. Miss McCaughrin went by plane from Columbia to Detroit, Michigan, where she was joined by her cous in, who accompanied her to Can ada by railway. Dr. A. T. Neely and son, Theo Neely will leave early Friday morn ing for Front Royel, Va., to attend the home-coming at Randolph Ma- can Academy Saturday. They ex pect to be gone several days. Mr. and Mrs. Julia McCluley of New York, spent the weekend here with her cousin, Mrs. Bennie Liv ingston on Boundary street. They were accompanied to New York on Monday by Mrs. Livingston and her adopted son, Mike, to spend this week in the home of Mrs. Living ston’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Cantala. Mrs. Joe Lindley of Ware Shoals is spending this week in the home of her sis'n-, Mrs. Bennie Livingston on Boundary street. Mrs. Phil Brooks (Evelyn Mc- Crackin) and son, Mac, returned to their home in Holly Hill last Wednesday. Mrs. Brooks spent several weeks here with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. McCrackin on College street recuperating from a recent operation in the Newberry hospital. William Caldwell Sims who has been with the U. S. Civil Service Commission in Honolulu for the past two years, spent a few days here last week with his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. McCrackin on College street prior to going on to Union for a visit with relatives. Mrs. L. C. Duncan has retsmed to her home in Norfolk, Va., after a visit here in ihe home of her son, C. C. Duncan and family on Glenn street. Miss Sara Swindler and Miss Doris Whitmire attended the ron- vention of the Woodman circle held jn Denver, Colorado recently. Miss Mattie Adams, who has been a patient in the Mountain Sanatorium for the past six weeks, returned to Newberry last Wednes day and is now a patient in the Newberry hospital. Her general condition is reported to be improv ed. Mrs. Dave Caldwell, who has been ill at her home near the city for the past several weeks, is somewhat better, her many friends will be glad to learn. D. M. Vaughn of Kinards, was a business visitor in the city Friday. Mrs. R. H. Hale of Newberry, route one, spent Saturday in New berry on business. Rachel McCarley of Whitmire was a business visitor in Newberry over the weekend. Miss Lois Fant, who has been a patient in the local hospital for the past two weeks, is reported to be improving, her many friends will be glad to leam.
