Misses Mamie and Hattie Belle
Crooks and their sister, Mrs. Bessie
C. Crisp, have returned to their
home «n E. Main street from an ex
tended trip with relatives in Austin,
San Antinio, and Huntsvlle, Texas.
Messrs. E. M. Lane, Floyd Lane
and Pierce C. Davis are spending
this week in Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Billie Beard spent
the weekend in Charlotte, N. C.,
with Mr. Beard’s parents.
Mrs. B. B. Bell has returned from
a visit with her son, Donald Cald
well and family in Oklahoma City,
Okla. Mrs. Caldwell and small
son, Ronnie accompanied her home
for a visit here.
Mrs. George Tyson, HI, and small
son, Ned of Savannah, Ga., are
spending two weeks in the home of
Mrs. Tyson’s mother, Mrs. Georgia
Welborn and garndmother, Mrs. E.
O. Hentz on College street.
Mrs. Roland Felker spent the past
weekend at Winthrop College witn
her daughter, Barbara, who is a
member of the freshman class.
Miss Fannie McCaughrin left last
Thursday for a two or three weeks
visit in Winsdor, Canada with her
cousin. Miss Mattie McCaughrin.
Miss McCaughrin went by plane
from Columbia to Detroit, Michigan,
where she was joined by her cous
in, who accompanied her to Can
ada by railway.
Dr. A. T. Neely and son, Theo
Neely will leave early Friday morn
ing for Front Royel, Va., to attend
the home-coming at Randolph Ma-
can Academy Saturday. They ex
pect to be gone several days.
Mr. and Mrs. Julia McCluley of
New York, spent the weekend here
with her cousin, Mrs. Bennie Liv
ingston on Boundary street. They
were accompanied to New York on
Monday by Mrs. Livingston and her
adopted son, Mike, to spend this
week in the home of Mrs. Living
ston’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. A. A. Cantala.
Mrs. Joe Lindley of Ware Shoals
is spending this week in the home
of her sis'n-, Mrs. Bennie Livingston
on Boundary street.
Mrs. Phil Brooks (Evelyn Mc-
Crackin) and son, Mac, returned
to their home in Holly Hill last
Wednesday. Mrs. Brooks spent
several weeks here with her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. McCrackin
on College street recuperating from
a recent operation in the Newberry
hospital.
William Caldwell Sims who has
been with the U. S. Civil Service
Commission in Honolulu for the
past two years, spent a few days
here last week with his cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. McCrackin on
College street prior to going on to
Union for a visit with relatives.
Mrs. L. C. Duncan has retsmed to
her home in Norfolk, Va., after a
visit here in ihe home of her son,
C. C. Duncan and family on Glenn
street.

Miss Mattie Adams, who has
been a patient in the Mountain
Sanatorium for the past six weeks,
returned to Newberry last Wednes
day and is now a patient in the
Newberry hospital. Her general
condition is reported to be improv
ed.
Mrs. Dave Caldwell, who has been
ill at her home near the city for
the past several weeks, is somewhat
better, her many friends will be
glad to learn.
D. M. Vaughn of Kinards, was a
business visitor in the city Friday.
Mrs. R. H. Hale of Newberry,
route one, spent Saturday in New
berry on business.
Rachel McCarley of Whitmire was
a business visitor in Newberry over
the weekend.
Miss Lois Fant, who has been a
patient in the local hospital for the
past two weeks, is reported to be
improving, her many friends will be
glad to leam.
