FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1046 THE NEWBERRY SUN Society WEDDINGS ENGAGEMENTS PERSONALS Dawkins-Lester Miss Freda Lester and Wallace McLendon Dawkins were married Sunday, September 8 ,in St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran church after the morning service, with the pas tor, the Rev. C. E. Seastrunk, pro nouncing the 'sremony with the double ring ritual of the Lutheran church in the presence of a large congregation. Mrs .C. E. Seastrunk, organist, and Mrs. Julius A. Boozer, soloist, furnished the wedding music. The chuch had tall baskets of gladioli and asters and greenery for decoration. Billie Dawkins of Prosperity, cousin of the bridegroom, and Fred Lester, counsin of the bride were the ushers and the bridegroom had for his best man his brother, Ben F. Dawkins of 'Newberry. The bride had for her dame of honor her sister, Mrs. Louis Shealy. She wore a black crepe dress with , trim and a corsage of! pink roses and asters. The bride, a lovely brunet, wore a chic fall model two-piece suit of line grey with black ha tand other accessories. Her corsage was a white purple throated orchid. Mrs. Dawkins is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lament Les ter of the Hartford community . of the county. She received her edu cation in the Newberry city schools and from the business department of Newberry college. Mr. Dawkins, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Dawkins, is a gradu ate of Newberry high school, and entered the naval service shortly after graduation. He served two years with overseas service of nearly two years in the Pacific. He is now a student at the University of South Carolina where he is ma joring in accounting with degree of B.S. Following the marriage the couple left for a short wedding trip after which they will be at home at 2501 Sumter street, Columbia. Mr. Brown is a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Brown of the Johnstone school community of the county. He is a graduate of the Prosperity high school and is employed in the Newberyr Textile mills. The build ing is known as the Newberry Frat ernity Hall building. The sale will be made and the deed of conveyance to the property will be executed and delivered with the understandings that the pur chaser will not be entitled to pos session until the first day of Jan uary, 1947; that the corporation, Newberry Fraternity Hall Com pany, will receive the rents from the tenants of the building until that day; that on and after January 1st, 1947, the purchaser will receive the rents from tenants now occupy ing the premises; that the tenants of the three storerooms on the first floor will be entitled, if they so desire, to continue occupancy until March 31st, 1947; and that Amity Lodge No. 87 AFM will have the right to continue its occupancy of the third floor, now rented by it, jf it so desires, until June 30th, 1947. TERMS OF SALE: The property will be sold for cash; the success ful bidder will be required im mediately upon bidding in the prop erty to pay 10 per cent in cash of the amount of the bid, which amount will be forfeited to the pres ent owner as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails or refuses to carry out the terms of the bid and sale; the purchaser will be re quired to pay the balance of the purchase price and comply in all respects with his bid and the terms of sale within twenty (20) days fol lowing the day of sale; the pur chaser is to pay the usual fee for the execution of a deed and for the required documentary stamps. State and Federal, thereon and recording fee of the deed. The seller, Newberry Fraternity Hall Company, will pay all taxes assessed against and due on the property up to and including the 31st day of December, 1946. This is valuable property, located in the heart of the City of Newber ry. The sale is being made not only for the purpose of liquidating the affairs of the corporation, but also for the purpose of effecting a settle ment of an estate largely financial ly interested in the property.
