You’ll be glad you did. wmtm g STORE LONG-NUNAMAKER Of special interest is the follow ing weding of James Clyde Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Long of the Tranwood community of this county: In a lovely ceremony taking place on January 20 a t 3:30 o’clock at the home of the bride. Miss Mildred Nunamaker, daughter of Mrs. E. 3. Nunamaker and the late Ernest J. Nunamaker, became the bride of James Claude Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Long of Newberry. Dr. E. Bryan Keisler, pastor of the bridegroom, performed the cere mony in the presence of relatives and a few close friends. Palms, baskets of white gladioli, and white candles in candelabra ef fectively decorated the house. The wedding music was furnished by Miss Sarah Long of Newberry, cousin of the bridegroom. The candles were lighted by Er nest Nunamaker, brother of the bride, and Kenneth Lon • brother of the bridegroom. The couple entered the ceremony room together. The bride wore a pow der blue suit with a white blouse and brown accessories. She carried a prayer book topped with red roses and showered with lilies of the val ley tied with white satin ribbon. Immediately after the cemerony an informal reception was given hon oring the bride and bridegroom. During the afternoon the couple left for a wedding trip to Georgia and Florida. Mrs. Long is a gradu ate of Winthrop college and has taught in Horry and Marion counties and in the city schools in Columbia, bia. Mr. Long, a graduate of New berry college, taught in Horry coun- ty and was principal of Floyds Gram mar school at the time he entered the army in August 1941. He re cently returned home from 19 months in the European theater, where he served with the Third Army. He received his discharge in September, 1945, and is now employed in Colum- toi,a. After February first Mr. and Mrs. Long will be at home in Columbia. Possibly not possessing the politi cal background of Pope and Thur mond, he has one advantage that they do not have; he comes from the very midst of the populous and heavy-voting Piedmont sections, al though Pope’s home county of New berry is on the line. Prosperity, in a lovely setting of Southern pines, smilax, and baskets of white chrysanthemums, and light ed candles in branched candelabra. The Rev. C. E. Seastrunk used the impi'essive double ring ritual in pro nouncing the ceremony. Darr Wise, pianist, nephew of the bride-groom, and Mrs. C. Mower Singley, soloist, rendered the wed ding music. Biddle D. Hawkins, of Prosperity, and Woodrow G. Hawkins, of Wash ington, D. C., brothers of the bride, were the ushers, and her nephew, young L. C. Pugh, served as acolyte The bridegroom was attended by his brother, G. Herman Wise, of Newberry, as best man. Miss Reba Hawkins was her sis ter’s maid of honor, and Mrs. Wood- row W. Bedenbaugh was matron of honor. They wore pink and blue taf feta and carried arm bouquets of pink carnations and snapdragons. The bride was attended by her father, George I. Hawkins, by whom she was given in marriage. She was beautiful in her bridal gown of white satin fashioned with fitted bodice appliqued with heavy lace and fast ened down the back with small but tons. A sweetheart neck line and long fitted sleeves and a long*skirt of marquisette edged with satin ruffles and extending into a full length train were other features of her costume. /She wore a full length veil of illusion encrusted with Chan tilly lace and held to her head by beaded coronet. Her bouquet was of calla lilies and gladioli showered with lilies of the valley. Mrs. Wise received her education at Newberry College and has been doing secretarial work since then. Mr. Wise is the son of Mrs. G. L. Wise and the late Mr. Wise of New berry. He is a graduate of Newber ry college a ndi had been teaching be fore he entered the U. S. Army Air Corps where he served as a radio operator in the Pacific theater. After a wedding trip they are at home in Newberry. ANNOUNCING!!
