MR. YOUMANS IMPROVING
FROM ACCIDENT
C. I. Youmans, who was painfully
injured in an automobile wreck on
December 19 while enroute to N*w-
bery from Louisville, Ky., returned to
his home here Thursday, accompanied
by Mrs. Youmans, who joined him
immediately after the accident.
Mr. Youmans’ ear skidded on the
highway and struck a truck that was
passing which caused the accident,
near Stanford, Ky., about 100 miles
from Louisville. He was carried to
a hospital in Louisville where he was
a patient ten days prior to returning
to Newberry. His condition is re
ported to be much better although
he is still confined to his bed.

Noah E. Taylor, 83, of Prosperity,
died early Saturday morning after
an illness of several weeks.
Fbneral services were (conducted
by his pastor, the Rev. C. E. Sea-
strunk, at St. Luke's Lutheran church
Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. In
terment followed in the church ceme
tery.
Mrs. Joe Eskridge and sons, of
Shelby, N. C., spent Christmas with
Mrs. Eskridge’s sister, Mrs. Sarah
D. Wallace, on Caldwell street.
CHARLIE CRANFORD
Funeral services for Charlie Cran
ford, 73, who died Saturday after
noon at the county home, were held
Monday afternon from the graveside
in Whitmire cemetery with Rev. C.
T. Bryant conducting the services.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs.
N. A .Farlow of Ashville, N. C.

MRS. P. H. SHEALY
Mrs. P. H. Shealy, 62, died Fri
day at her home in Chapin after an
illness of eight months.
Mrs. Shealy was bom in Lexing
ton county October 18, 1883, the
daughter of the late W. H. Sloan
and Octava Hunter Sloan. She was
an active member of Mt. Horeb Lu
theran church in Chapin and a lead
er in the Ladies’ Aid and Women’s
Missionary societies of the church.
