MISS WOLFF AND
LT. HAWKINS WED
IN CHURCH CEREMONY
The First Methodist church was
the scene of a lovely wedding Sunday
afternoon, April 29, at 5 o’clock
when Miss Anna Elizabeth Wolff,
only child of Mr. and Mrs- Bishop
Marvin Wolff, became the bride of
Lt. Miles Chester Hawkins, of New
berry, who has just returned after
three years service with the U. S,
army in Southwest Pacific war area
The Rev. Adlai C. Holler, pastor
of the church, officiated in the pres
ence of a large assemblage of rela
tives and friends. The impressive
double ring ceremony was used.
The church was beautifully decor
ated for the occasion in bridal green
and White. Tall floor baskets of
deutzia and white gladioli were ar
ranged at intervals with cathedral
candelabra against a background of
palms. The altar rail was covered
with graceful ivy and magnolia
leaves and outlined with glowing
candles. Magnolia bouquets tied with
tulle indicated the ipews reserved
for the family and close friends.
The wedding music was rendered
by Mrs. J. K. Taylor, organist, and
Mrs. R. T. Wilson, soprano soloist.
As prenuptial selections, Mrs. Tay
lor played “Venetian Love Song,”
Nevin, and “Estrellita,” Ponce. While
the candles were being lighted, she
played “Traumerei,” Schumann, and
later, as an organ solo, “Liebes
traum,” Liszt. Mrs. Wilson sang,
“L’Amour Toujours,” Friml, and
“Through The Years,” Voumans, and
as a benediction, “Seal Us, O Holy
•Spirit," Meredith. The traditional
wedding marches were used as the
processional and recessional.
Serving as bridesmaids were Mrs.
Joe Montgomery and Miss Dorothy
Long. Mrs. Montgomery wore
dress of lavendar with rose flower
hat and carried a shower bouquet in
the same hues. Miss Long’s dress
was of pink with a lavendar hat and
similar bouquet.
Miss Evelyn Milam, the maid-of-
honor wore a dress of light blue,
yellow flower hat and matching
bouquet.
The ushergroomsmen were Mr.
Floyd Lane, of Clinton, and Mr. F.
E. Hawkins, of Blacksburg, brother
of the bridegroom.
Lt. Hawkins had as his best man
his brother, Mr. G. F. Hawkins,
USNR, of Fredericksburg, Va.
The bride, who was given in mar
riage by her father, was lovely in
her wedding dress of tailored blue,
Her heart-shaped hat of pink sequins
had a small veil of the same shade,
her accessories were white. Her
bridal bouquet was of pink roses and
swansonia centered with a detach
able corsage of gardenias. Her only
ornament was a strand of ipearls be
longing to her mother.
Mrs. Wolff, mother of the bride,
wore a gold dress with flower hat
of green and rust and a corsage of
talisman roses.
Mrs. Wilson’s dress was of gray
and her hat and corsage of Ameri
can Beauty roses.
During the evening, Lt. and Mrs.
Hawkins left on a honeymoon trip
to the mountains of North Carolina.
For traveling, the bride wore a coat
suit of gold flannel with white ac
cessories. After two weeks’ leave,
Lt. Hawkins, with his bride, will go
to Miami, for re-assignment.
