> Of interest throughout the Caro
lines is the announcement of the
marriage of Miss Genevieve Nance
Lominick and S. Jenkins Me Watters
which was solemnized Saturday,
April seventh at seven o’clock in the
evening in the Lutheran church of
the Redeemer with the pastor, the
Rev. E. Bryan Keisler, Chaplain,
Army of United States, officiating
in the presence of a group of close
relatives and intimate friends.
The ring ritual of the Lutheran
church was used in pronouncing the
ceremony.
The church was effectively decor
ated for the occasion with white car
nations and iris in tall baskets with
fern and other greenery as a back
ground for the alter which was light
ed with alter candles.
The bride wore a two-piece black
wool gabardine suit with white ac
cessories and a corsage of white
carnations and Valley lilies. Her
hat was a small model in braid with
draped veil.
There were no attendants.
Mrs. McWatters is the attractive
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James
Lominick of Newberry. Mrs. Lomi
nick was the former Daisy Nance,
daughter of Major John King Nance.
She received her education in the
Newberry city schools.
Mr. McWatters is the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. S. M. McWatters
of Fort Lawn, where he received his
education. He is employed with the
Duke Power Company at Durham,
N. C. where they will be at home at
410 E. Geer street, upon their re
turn from their weding trip.
Among the out-of-town guests at
tending the marriage were: Mr. and
Mrs. B. H. Ginn, sister and brother-
in-law of the bridegroom, of Spar
tanburg; Mrs. Earl Roland of Char
leston; Mr. and Mrs. John King
Lominick and son, Jack, of Gaffney
Miss Rebecca Lominick of Estill
Mr. and Mrs. James Lominick
Clinton.

PFC. NEAL DAVIS a member of
the 26th Marines, 5th Division,
writes his parents, Mr -and Mrs. M.
P. Davis: “I know you have waited
long enough for a letter from me
and as tired as I am tonight I’m go
ing to write you. Got out of combat
two days ago and I haven't fully re
covered yet. Never was so glad to
leave a place in my life (Ewo Jima).
It was only with Gods help that 1
did. I truly hope that I never have
to go through another experience
hall as bad. Believe me, it was hell
all the way. When I think back over
it, I can see how lucky I was. The
only scratch I got was a little leg
wound.”
Private Davis has been in four
major campaigns, Guadalcanal, Vel
la-Lavella, Bouginville and Ewo
Jima. He was returned to the
states several months ago for
thirty day furlough after a tour of
duty in the Pacific over a year. He
reported back to California after his
furlough iu the states, and was sent
to the Hawiian Islands, prior to tak
ing part in the invasion of Ewo
Jima. He is now at a rest camp
somewhere in the Pacific area.
