YOUTHS WARNED SYPHILIS CURE NOT PERFECTED Columbus, O., Nov. 28—Tha Ohio State Medical association declared today that "rapid treatment” for syphilis still was in the experiment tal stage and “youth should not as sume the attitude: ‘Why worry, we can be cured in a day.’ ’’ The association’s council, in a for mal statement, said some “popular writings” had left the impoeasion i that syphilis no longer was to be regarded seriously and added that such articles might retard, rather than stimulate, progress toward eventually eliminating the disease, “Such writers appear to have overlooked the fact that articles of this kind may tend to develop an attitude of promiscuity among for merly fearful individuals to such an extent that the number of syph ilis cases may increase rather than decrease,’ the statement said “A well-founded respect for the ravages of this disease has, to a cer tain extent, been an effetive deter rent to promiscuity and to the evo lution of an unhealthy philosophy of sex conduct. Now, however, there appears to be a real danger thalt youth may assume the apti tude: ‘Why worry, we can be cured in a day.’ ’’ REV. J. L. DANIEL The Rev. J. L. Daniel, D. D., 77, retired Methodist minister and father of Mrs. S. C. Paysinger, died Saturday night at 7 o’clock at the Providence Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 11 a. m. from Doctor Daniel’s home here in Newberry, Rev. J. A. Estes officiating. Doctor Daniel was born in Lau rens county, but made his home, in Newberry, where he formerly was pastier of the Methodist church here. He is the brother of the late Dr. W. W. Daniel, former president of Columbia College, and the late Rev. J. W. Daniel, D.D., former pastor of Washington Street Metho dist church, Columbia. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lutitia Smith Daniel, of Newberry, and two children, Mrs. S. C. Pay- singer of Newberry and J. McT. Daniel of Columbia.
