Miss Rodella Turner of Washing ton, D. C., spent the Easter season with her parents. Mrs. Hugh Bangle and mother, of Clinton, were visitors in the city Saturday. Mrs. J. S. Eason and daughter, Betty Jo, of Whitmire, were business visitors here over the weekend. Mrs. John Mayes of Winthrop Col lege, apent a few days last week at her home on Main street. Miss Sara Paysinger, a teacher near Aiken, spent the Easter holi days with relatives here. Miss Liela Norris, a teacher in the Columbia High school spent the week end with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ruff spent 'Sunday in Winnsboro with Mrs. (Ruff’s mother, Mrs. Julia Long. Miss Gloria Summer of Converse College, spent the Easter holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. The Rev. H. C. Ritter, pastor of the Church, pronounced the ceremony using the ring ritual of the Metho dist Church, in the presence of rela tives and friends. The central feature of the altar decorations was a large bowl of calla lilies and tall floor baskets of bri dal wreath and snowy dogwood were placed on either side with palms and groupings of lilies used in the back ground of the altar, which was lighted by Drayton Nance and Doug las Hornsby, who acted as uslhers. Mrs. May T. SbuCk, organist, ard Mrs. P. K. Harmon, vocalist gave a delightful ptrognam of pm-nteptial music including Leibestraum (Liszt), Traumerei (Schuman), Estrellita (Lonce) and Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life” (Herbert) and Mrs. Harmon sang I Love You Truly (Bond) and Because (DeHardelot. During the taking of the vows, To A Wild Rose was played, and the conventional wedding music was used. Emma Riser Nance, cousin of the bride, was the maid of honor and only attendant. She wore a Copen hagen blue dress, small white hat with veil and white accessories. Her flowers were fashioned • in a colonial nosegay of vari-colored flowers cen tered with pink roses. The bride, a beautiful blond, was given in marriage by her father, Wil liam Wallace Riser. She wore a chic navy blue two-piece dress modeled cf silk crepe and with white frilled vestee of lace. Her small hat of navy straw was veiled in the same shade and other accessories were navy. She carried a prayer book which was topped with a white or chid. J. M. Sheriff, of Orangeburg, un cle of the bridegroom was his best man. Mrs. J. W. Sheriff, grandmother of the bridegroom wore a lavendar crepe dress and harmonizing hat and shoulder corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. W. W. Riser, mother of the bride wore navy blue with a corsage of red rosebuds. Mrs. Sheriff received her educa tion in the Clinton schools, graduat ing in 1942, and since has ' held a secretarial position in Columbia. Mr. Sheriff is a son of Mrs. R. K. Corbett of Wilmington, N. C. and the late A. C. Sheriff of Orange burg, and was reared by his grand mother, Mrs. J. W. Sheriff of Or angeburg. He received his educa tion in the Orangeburg high school and Clemson college. He is now with the department of Internal Revenue in Columbia. After a wedding trip to North Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Sheriff will be at home on Queen street in Col umbia. Among out-of-town guests at the wedding were, Mrs. J. W. Sheriff, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sheriff, Dickie Sheriff, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gram- lin of Orangeburg, Dr. and Mrs. Henry Zeibst, Mr. and Mrs 1 . E. _A. Blackwell, Miss Lucy Riser, Mrs. H. D. Riser of Columbia, Mrs. Lillian Minus of St. George, Naval Cadet Drayton Nance, Jr., of Charleston, and Jasper Waites, of Greenville. Following the rehersal Saturday evening relatives, members of the wedding party, and a nujnber of out of town guests were' entertained with an informal party by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wal lace Riser, and Mr. and Mrs. Dray ton Nance at the Nance home on Johnstone street. The blade’s table, covered with a handsome hand-made lace cover, was centered with a three-tiered embossed wedding cake which was embelished with an arch of orange blossoms from which depended a group of small crystal wedding bells. Candles in crystal candelabra were used on either end of the table. Bridal wreath and white iris were used in decorating the dining room and other reception rooms. During the evening the cake was cut for the emblems of fortune and later a salad course was served by a group of friends of the bride. Dr. and Mrs. H. M.
