NOTES
Mrs. Z. Stanton returned to her
home in Greenville, Tenn. Monday
after spending a week with her sis
ter-in-law, Mrs. Holland Sligh, who
returned to Tennessee with her for a
three weks visit.
Mrs. James Smith spent last Tues
day and Wednesday in Greenville
with her sister, Mrs. Lois McMillan.
Mrs. C. C. Foy returned to her
home in Newberry Monday after
spending two monts with her hus
band, 2|c Petty Officer Foy at Port
Hueneme, Cal.
Mrs. Daisy Johnston, of Arlington,
Y'a., is visiting Miss Lois Fant at the
Newberry Hotel.
Mrs. Henry Niles, of Camden, was
a weekend visitor in the home of her |
mother, Mrs. J. R. Green.
Mrs. J. B. Halfacre returned to her
home Sunday from a visit with her
daughter, Mrs. N. P. Moody of Co
lumbia.

Taxes can be paid this month with
2 per cent penalty. After April 30th.
all unpaid taxes go into execution
with a 7 per cent penalty added and
are turned over to the Tax Collector
who will add an additional 3 per
cent penalty.

Cathey were the two persons de
scribed in the Sun last week for the
free theatre tickets to Wells theatre.
The first description for this week
is of a young girl seen hurrying to
her home on College street Wednes
day afternoon wearing a bright red
coat. She ihas beautiful auburn hair
and brown eyes.
The second description is of a lady
seen Wednesday morning wearing a
dark blue coat with a service pin
bearing four stars on it, and a dark
blue turban. She has grey hair and
blue eyes.
If either of these descriptions fits
you come to the Sun office and get
your pass whcilh will be good for the
Monday and Tuesday show at the
WELLS’ Theatre, compliments of the
Sun and Wells.
Prof. William Milam, of Sally, was
a weekend visitor at his home in the
city.

MT. PLEASANT CLUB MEETING
The meeting of the ?,tt. Pleasant
club was held at the school building
Wednesday aftemon, April 7.
The vice-president, Mrs. Raymond
Ringer presided over the opening ex-
rcises. After the meeting was called
to order, the song, Christ the Lord is
risen today, was sung. Mrs. R. W.
Glymph, Jr. conducted the devotion
al, reading the beautiful story of the
risen Christ, so appropriate for the
Easter season.
The council creed and flag salute
were given.
The gleaner, Mrs. Brabham Crooks,
played two musical numbers for our
enjoyment.
Miss Ethel Counts emphasized the
need and importance of Victory gart
dens. To have health, we must have
proper food. Malnutrition or hidden
hunger—is the cause of so many
boys failing to pass examination for
entrance into the army.
In plannig meals there are certain
“must foods” that should be served
daily. These “must foods’ are: Milk,
green leafy or yellow vegetables,
with one or more vegetables at a
meal; whole wheat or enriched b:
meat—on pieatless days dried bea:
soy beans or dried peas could be at
stituted, eggs, butter and water. A ’-

for the day—85 was the highest
score. The president, Mrs. T. W»
Henderson, presided over the busi
ness session. The minutes were read
and approved. Eighteen members
answered the roll call.
Plans were made for a community
party for Saturday night, April 24.
