WILEY-WILLIAMS
This column is late in describing
the marriage of a sweet little Miss on
the 7th of last month. She is the
grand-daughter of John Taylor, and
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Wiley of Philadelphia.
Mr. Wiley married Miss Taylor
here when he was manager of a 10c
store, a position he held for about
five years.
The bride is Miss Dorothy Mae
Wiley and she married Charlie Wil
liams who is employed in Rochester,
N. Y., by the Westing'house company.
Dorothy Mae came all the way
from Philadelphia with her parents
to be married in the First Baptist
church here, because it was here that
they were married. The ceremony
was performed by Dr. Estes and the
young bride was truly beautiful in
'her wedding clothes. Mr. and Mrs.
Wiley, parents of the bride, were
guests of Mrs. Bennie Livingston
while here.
We regret our tardiness in chron
icling the marriage of these fine
young people and wish that every
happiness may attend them.

day morning June 7th at St. Luke's
Lutheran church immediately after
the morning service. Rev. J. V.
Long, pastor of the bride, officiated,
using the ring ceremony, in the pres
ence of the congregation and close
friends.
Mrs. Mower Singley a friend of the
bride sang “Because” preceeding the
ceremony.
The bride was attired in a costume
of navy with which she wore White
accessories and a shoulder corsage
of red rosebuds.
Mrs. Goodrich attended Newberry
high school and was a member of
this year’s graduating class at New
berry college. She was a member of
the Students’ council at Newberry,
and of the Philomathean literary soc
iety. She was an attendant for the
May Day queen for three years and
this year was maid of honor at the
May Day exercises.
After a short trip to the moun
tains of North Carolina Mrs. Good
rich will return to the home of her
parents here while Sergeant Good
rich will return to duty at Camp
Jackson.
MISS IRMA WIETERS WEDS
DR. REYBURN LOMINACK
Announcement has been made of
the marriage of Miss Elizabeth Wie-
ters of Charleston to Dr. Reybuyi
Lomniack of Newberry. The wed
ding took place on May 2 at Saint
John’s Lutheran church, Charleston,
with the Rev. Heyward Epting, pas
tor, officiating.
Mrs. Lominick is the daughter of
Mrs. George F. Wietters of Charles
ton and the late Mr. Wieters. She
was graduated from the College of
Charleston.
Doctor Lominiek, son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. Frank Lominick of this city
attended Newberry college and Duke
university. He was graduated on
June 4 from the Medical College of
the State of South Carolina, where

side in Columbia where Dr. Lominick
will serve an internship at the Col

TOLBERT-HUDSON
Mrs. J. M. Tolbert of Newberry, an
nounces the marriage of her daugh
ter, Jessie Lee to Lieut. Robert Den
son Hudson, USA of Birmingham,
Ala. The wedding was solemnized
Saturday evening, May 16, at Grace
Methodist church in Wilmington, N.
C., the Rev. J. F. Herbert, pastor,
officiated.
The bride, a striking blonde, who
wore a lovely creation of dusty pink
with beige accessories, received her
education in the Newberry city
schools and Gradwohl in St. Louis.
Lieutenant Hudson is the son of
Mrs. Annie D. Hudson of Birming
ham, Ala. He received his education
at Washington and Lee university. A
recent graduate of the officers’ can
didate division o the anti-aircraft
artillery school. Lieutenant Hudson,
before hs entry into the army, was
in the automotive business in New
berry.
RECENT BTffDES HONORED
AT WEEK-END PARTY
Mrs. Elliott Dawkins entertained
at her apartment ort Boundary street
last Saturday afternoon in honor of
Mrs. Reybum Lomiincx and Mir.
Frank Lominack, boh recent brides.
Two tables were arranged for bridge.
A variety of summer flowers dec
orated the living room. Four pro
gressions were played and at the con
clusion of the game the high score
prize was awarded Miss Constance
Armfield. Gifts were also presented
the honored guests.
An iced drink and cakes were
served late in the afternoon. At the
party were the following: Mrs. Rgy-
burn Lominick,Mrs. Frank Lominick,
Mrs. Jimmie Price, Mrs. Henry Lom
inack, Miss Armfield, Miss Clara
Davis and Mrs. Mike Youmans.
HOSTESS AT BRIDGE
TUESDAY EVENING
Miss Ruth Mims was hostess to
members of her bridge club at a
lovely party Tuesday evening of this
week. The party was at the Mims
home near t).ie city. Summer flowers
decorating the playing room were
larkspur, sweetpeas, and snapdra
gons. Miss Rook Purcell was invited
to fill in for a n absent member.
Prizes were won by Miss Purcell
and by Miss Jane Wynn. A most at
tractive chicken salad plate was
served with iced drink after the
game.
PURCELL FIRST. LIEUT.
Ensign Joe Purcell, who recently
received promotion to First Lieuten
ant at Miami, Fla., where he was an
instructor for the past few weeks,
spent a few days this week with his
mother, Mrs. C. J. Purcell, and other
relatives in Newberry, enroute to
Norfolk, Va., where he will be stat
ioned for a two-months training per
iod for instruction in piloting four-
engine bombers.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Abrams, Sr.,
and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Abrams, Jr.,
attended the graduation ejArcises of
their daughter and sister, Miss Vera
Mae Abrams at the Roper hsopital
in Charleston on Thusday, June 4th.
Miss Abrams and a classmate, Miss
Spitzer, returned h-.me with them
Friday for a 15-day vacation.

in the Sun last week.
This week our first description is
of a lady seen Tuesday morning
standing in front of her place of bu
siness on lower Main street. She was
wearing a brown-and-white figured
one piece dress, brown and tan sand-
les. She has brown hair, brown eyes
and wears glasses. The lady and
this reporter chatted awhile about
school, etc.
The second description is also of a
lady, seen walking on Main street
Tuesday morning carrying a bank
book and business papers. She was
wearing a brown and yellow stripped
dress, white and tan sport shoes.
She has brown hair and blue eyes
and wears glasses.

Newberry county, S. C., on Thursday,
the 16th day of July, 1942, at 10
