PRICE Society and CLUB NOTES By DORIS ARMFIELD YOUNG-NEEL In the presence of only relatives and a few intimate friends, Miss Lois Bairbara Young became the bride of Walter Neel at Rock Hill Saturday at noon. The ceremony was performed by Dr. S. W. Gregg, pastor of the Rock Hill Presbyterian church. The bride was attractively dressed in soldier boy blue with burgundy ac cessories. Her corsage was of red roses and valley lilies. After the ceremony, the couple left for a wedding trip through South Carolina and Georgia. On their re turn, they will make their home in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Mrs. Neel, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E Roy Young of Char lotte and Greenville, attended the Greenville High School and Business college. Mr. Neel is the son of Mrs. Carrie T. Neel and the late Thomas M. Neel of Newberry. He was graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He is now con nected with the Mufreesboro Bank and Trust company. IS THIS YOU? Only one of last week’s “descrip tions” recognized themselves. That was Mrs. Wyche Dickert, who receiv ed her quart of ice cream from Stokes drug store. Mrs. A. H. Counts did not recognize herself. This week, two quarts of ice cream will be given, one by The Sun, and one by Stokes Drug Store. Could you have been the young lady parking her car on Main street Wed nesday morning? She is definitiely blonde, with lovely natural curly hair, and blue eyes. She wore a white shirt (which is as much as your soc. ed. could see of her apparel.) Her car is black, with white sidewall tires, a model of a couple years ago. The other lady described this week was seen rushing to the Western Un ion office Wednesday at noon, only to find the operator at lunch. This lady wore a one piece cotton print dress, and is a familiar figure, often seen around town riding in a station wa gon. She is rather small of statue, and has black hair. If either of these descriptions fit you, come to The Sun office and re ceive your coupono entitling you to a quart of ■ ice cream from Stoke’s Drug store. LESLIE PRICE, JR., HONORED ON BIRTHDAY Friends of Leslie Price, Jr., of Stoneville, N. C„ were invited to help him celebrate his birthday Saturday, August 24, at the home of his sister, Mrs. William Milam on Glenn Street. Early in the afternoon, the child ren were taken to the Margaret Hun- tr Park, where all enjoyed swimming. Then they returned to the home, and after playing games, were invited in to the dining room. This room was decorated in a pink, green and white color scheme. Punch, sandwiches, and cakes were served. Each guest re ceived individual favors of mints in cellophane paper tied with pink rib bon, and green, pink and white blow gum. After refreshments, Leslie op ened his many attractive gifts. He has now returned to his home in Stoneville, N. C., after a visit with his sister. I wish to thank my friends in Newberry County for the splendid vote that I received. I do appreci ate everything that was done in my behalf. Since I know that I can’t see every person who voted for me, I wish to take this opportunity to thank each one for the support given me. J. Ralph Black Elect Gene Spearman Your Next Supervisor TO THE VOTERS OF NEWBERRY COUNTY: Let me thank you very sincerely for the fine vote you gave me at the polls August 27th. Although I have had a number of years of successful experience in public administration, I have had no experience as a politician. Your vote was based then on confidence in my honesty, my experience, and my ability; and natur ally, I feel deeply appreciative. Throughout the entire campaign, you have been most cordial and most helpful, and I have made an effort to see as many of you personally as has been possible. I have conducted my campaign in the fair and friendly manner to which I think you, the public, is entitled, and in which I think all public offices should be conducted. If elected your next SUPERVISOR it shall be my desire to render system atic, regular, and impartial service to all parts of the county and to make as much improvement in all toads as possible. Living in the country and making daily use of dirt roads, I naturally have a first hand knowledge of, and interest in, their im provement. In the conduct of public office, I think service to the public should be placed above personal interests. I expect to make all purchases and all appointments on a basis of economy and efficiency, in the best interests of you, the citizens of Newberry County. I have not sacrihced your best interests by making political promises. I know that I can cooperate with the COMMISSIONERS you elect, with other public officials, with each and every citizen of Newberry County, and with all worthwhile projects of other public agencies, and, in turn, receive such cooperation from them. With a strenuous campaign tor the numerous offices having closed, a less ening of interest would be natural, if the selection of the SUPERVISOR and COM MISSIONERS were not of such vital concern. The roads are an important asset; expensive equipment, materials, wages, and salaries are paid out of your pocket and mine. You want the county’s business run as economically as is consistent with efficiency, for you are entitled to the most for your tax money. BE SURE TO VOTE SEPTEMBER 10th!
