last Thursday afternoon to give the
Panthers a 6-0 edge over the
Thornwell Orphanage eleven and
the Upper State championship in
Class “C” competition.

in- the second quarter, the ball
rolled over the goal line and Perry
Brown, end, fell on it. The try for
the extra point was no good.
The Panthers leave Friday
morning to meet' St, Stephens On
their field for the state title. The
game will be played Friday night

Letter Sent To Ford
Motor Co. Suppliers
Dearborn, Mich., Nov. 14.—The
following letter was sent Novem
ber 11, 1946, to 3200 major Ford
Motor Company suppliers by Albert
J, Browning, vice president and
director of purchases:
“When the announcement was
made by the President on Nov. 9
that OPA price control was being
removed from all but a few items,
the Ford Motor Company was
asked by the press for a statement
on its pricing policy as a result of
the\ decontrol order. The com
pany issued the following state
ment:
“ ‘We do not contemplate any in
crease in the prices of Ford Motor
Company cars and trucks.’
“A number of our suppliers al
ready have telephoned us or have
been in to see us, and have stated
they are in complete accord with
this policy. They also assured us
they will maintain their present
level of prices to us until and un
less substantial future cost in
creases make such a position im
possible. They have suggested that
we advise all of our supply and
material sources of the company’s
pricing policy and solicit their co
operation in helping us avoid the
necessity of further increases in
he prices of Ford automobiles and
trucks.
“We realize that many serious
inequalities existed in former OPA
prices on repair parts, and chat
some of our suppliers, as well as
ourselves, were forced by OPA
ceilings to sell at a considerable
loss, involving unnecessary hard
ship. It is our intention to adjust,
where necessary, the prices of cer
tain repair parts in order to cor
rect this situation.

Now that most of the streets of
McCormick have been hardsur
faced there is a temptation to
speed. This immediately endangers
the lives of children and adults as
well. City Council is not waiting
for someone to be killed or in
jured to take necessary precau
tions. An ordinance has been
passed limiting the speed to 25
miles per hour. I am hereby put
ting everyone on notice and thi c
ordinance will be strictly enforced
I also wish to call attention tc
parking regulations on the main
streets. Cars must be parked onW
within the ‘ white lines. It has
been nearly 5 years since a traf
fic accident has taken a life in the
Town of McCormick and it is my
desire and aim to prevent another.

reasonable profit on its sales,
However, we feel that it is vitally
necessary, during this critical peri
od of adjustment, that all indus
try cooperate to avoid precipitous
or unjustified increases in prices.
“It is expected that there will
bo a marked increase in the price
of some commodities during the
next few weeks. But to the ex
tent that American industry can
hold the line without passing on
temporary increases in costs, we
belive that the free working of our
competitive system soon will bring
about stabilization at a reasonable
level.
“We are sending this letter to all
important Ford suppliers and want
to take this opportunity to express
to you our appreciatin for your
help and cooperation during the
period of readjustment.”
