The flourishing state of the church

Jerusalem to send Barnabas to visit

Soon the Antioch church was led

nabas out as missionaries. The two
went to Cyprus, traversed the whole
extent of the island, and made a
convert of Sergius Paul us. the pro
consul. Sailing for Asia Minor, where
John Mark left them, they reached
Antioch in Plsidla.
This city should not be less not
able than the Antioch where the
disciples were first called Christians.
For in the Pisidian Antioch Paul
and Barnabas, bitterly opposed by
Jews there, declared. “Lo, we turn
ft> the Gentiles."

It was not strange that the Gen-
ftles rejoiced when they heard this,
and that Paul and Barnabas, when
fttey returned to the Antioch from
which they went, galdly reported
ftiat God "had opened a door of
ftdth unto the Gentiles."
The widening field of service for
Paul depended upon his widening
vision. So may we have the lifted
eyes to see the larger fields of serv-

'Mayson regret to know that his
^physical condition would not per
mit his removal from the hospital
last Monday as expected. It is
still necessary for him to remain

Mr. Tandy B. Gilchrist resumed
his work this week, after celebrat
ing his 65th birthday, Sunday. He
was the recipient of many lovely
and useful gifts. Guests in his
home during the week end were

and Mrs. Frank Boozer, Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Gilchrist and daugh
ter, Mae, Mr. Joe Gilchrist of
Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Edward

and Mrs. Sally Gilchrist of Reho-

Mr. Ernest Southern had a near
serious accident while working last
week; a belt broke, hitting him on
the head causing an ugly wound.
He is able to be up and about now.
We are delighted to report that
Mrs. Margaret R. Seigler seems to
be getting along fine. We see her
going about occasionally.
Mrs. Holly Whatley and two chil
dren. Roxie and Wayne, of Green-
jwood, are spending this week with
their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. j.. Mayson.

school house Monday afternoon for
the support of The Hot School
Lunch Program. Many that could
not attend sent written -messages
of 100 per cent support. This is a
grand cooperative spirit which is
exhibited in this community. The
H. D. Club also always supports the
School and Hot Lunch Program.
