Employers May Save
By Making Reports
Employers were cautioned today
by Executive Director Jas. Julien
Bush Of the South Carolina Em
ployment Security Commission to
observe the deadline, July 31, for
the submission of second quarter
1946 contributions to the agency
to establish eligibility for a possi
ble reduction in their rates for
1947 under the experience rating
provisions of the state unemploy
ment compensation law.
“The standard rate of contribu
tions payable by each employer is
2.7 *per cent of his taxable pay
roll,” the director explaned, “but
the South Carolina Unemploy
ment Compensation law provides
for ‘experience rating’ whereby
an employer’s rate may be reduced
below the standard on a basis of
contributions paid by the employ
er and the amount of compensa
tion payments charged against
his account.”
Under experience rating an em
ployer’s contribution rate may
range from nine-tenths of one
per cent to three and six-tenths
per cent of his taxable payroll.
This plan was devised to ' reward
those employers who have avoided
turnover in their personnel and
thereby made records showing
stabilized employment in their
establishments over a period of
years.
Since July 1 all employers have
been requested to make their con
tribution checks payable to the
South Carolina Employment Se
curity Commission,” which is the
