disabled veterans employed in the
federal government. This order
removes the “duration-plus-six-
monhts^ limitation which has ap
plied to persons whose Civil Ser
vice employment began after
March 16, 1942, receiving appoint
ments known as War-Service In
definite.
Veterans who establish the
present existence of not less than
10 per cent service-connected dis
ability, as adjudged by the Vet
erans Administration, and who
are now satisfactorily serving un
der War-Service Indefinite ap
pointments may acquire a com
petitive classified status and be
retained in the Federal Civil Ser
vice.
The order also provides that,
while war service regulations are
in operation, veterans with 10
per cent or more service-connect
ed disabilities who may be se
lected for federal positions shall
be given probational appoint
ments leading to permanent stat-
