Self spent last week In Augusta, Ga., with Mrs. R. L. Humphries and Miss Eloise Corley. Mr. J. J. Hester of Calhoun Palls was a visitor here one day the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Houston Simpson, Ware Shoals, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wilson and son, Gene, Green ville, Miss loneene Cochran of Greenville were guests of Dr. and Mrs. L. K. Simpson Sunday before last. Cpl. Charles Leslie Edmunds, 13th Airborne Division, who re cently returned from overseas, is here on furlough with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Willis and daughter of Calhoun Falls spent Sunday in the home of his sister, Mrs. M. L. Gibert. Misses Wilma Fleming and Mary Hammond, students at Anderson College, Anderson, spent the week end here with the former’s par ents, Chief and Mrs. C. A. Flem ing. Pvt. James L. Gibert, stationed at Fort Jackson, spent the week end here and in Plum Branch with relatives. Mr. Edwin Guy Jennings of the White Town community was a- mong the visitors here Monday. Mrs. R. L. Faulkner has return ed to her home here, after receiv ing treatment at the University; Hospital in Augusta, Ga., and is reported to be getting along very* nicely at this time. DR. HENRY J. Walker of Greenwood, formerly of McCormick, announce the marriage of their daughter, Ruby Elizabeth, to James E. Turner, seaman, second class, of Miami, Fla., son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Miss Lois Blackwell of Parks ville, S. C., and Mr. Leonard Miner of Plum Branch, S. C., were mar ried October 7 at 4 o’clock at the home of Rev. Speer in Plum Branch. The couple entered together to the strains of Lohengrin’s Wedding March. For her wedding the bride wore a dress of aqua crepe with a small feather hat of matching shade and black ac cessories. The wedding was witnessed by the two immediate families and a, few close friends and the wedding music was played by Mrs. E. C. Rice. Mrs. Miner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Blackwell of Parksville, S. C. For • the past two years she has been employed at the Augusta Arsenal. Mr. Miner is the son of Mrs. Maude E. Miner and the late Mr. Rufus Miner of Plum Branch. He recently received his discharge from the U. S. Army, after havfhg served 34 months in Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium and Germany where he received the Purple Heart and seven Battle Stars. After a short wedding trip the couple will make their home with the groom’s" mother in Plum Branch, S.
