China’s best-known woman edu
cator, Miss Wu Yi-fang, Ph. D.,
president of Ginling College for
Women, Nanking, China, is one of
the ten Chinese delegates chosen
by Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek
to attend the San Francisco Con
ference. Dr. Wu is one of the few
Chinese women who have made
places for themselves in politics
and government. She is a mem
ber of the presidium of the Peo
ple’s Political Council, and one of
the five persons (and only woman)
who can preside over the meet
ings of the Council which repre
sents all political parties. She is
also president of the National
Christian Council of China, and
president of the National Y. W. C.
A. of China. Dr. Wu is herself an
alumna of Ginling College, and
holds M. A. and Ph. D. degrees
from the University of Michigan.
She was in the United States two
years ago in the interests of Am
erican missionary-supported col
leges in China; and in 1933 she
represented China at the Interna
tional Congress of Women held in
Chicago.

Mrs. Howard Stone Anderson,
wife of Dr. Howard Stone Ander
son, minister of the First Congre
gational Church of Washington, D.
C., is the newly-’-chosen president
of the National Fellowship of Con
gregational Christian Women—an
organization of some 700,000 wom
en. Before her marriage, Mrs. An
derson was Miss Marlowe Addy,
and a professor at the University
of Omaha. She is the mother of
three daughters, and has been
working with church youth in Ne
braska, Illinois, North Dakota, Io
wa and Michigan.

France as goodwill ambassadors to
the evangelical youth groups of

dist missionary parents, and now
completing work for her Ph. D. de
gree at Union Theological Semi
nary, New York; and Miss Char
lotte Califf, of Jeffersontown, Ky.,
representing the Congregational
Church, who has been industrial
secretary of the Y. W. C. A. in
Kentucky and Georgia. As soon
as transportation is available they
will sail for France where “they
will live with people, share their
problems, and help in making the
French people’s plans for the
! Christian future of their home
land a reality.”
